Il était 7h lorsque je suis arrivé au Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier ce matin. Il faisait 1°C et la brume recouvrait les parties les plus basses de la vallée. Lorsque je me suis approché de la rivière, j'ai aperçu quelque-chose sur la rive. Au début je croyais que c'était un ours car ça me semblait assez gros mais finalement j'ai constaté que c'était un magnifique CASTOR.

IL FIUME BRENTA CON IL PONTE DEGLI ALPINI.

L’incantevole posizione geografica circondata da colline e favorita da un clima mite, consente al viaggiatore di immergersi nell’incanto di questa cittadina medievale situata in territorio vicentino.
Il contesto architettonico di Bassano del Grappa è un tuffo nell’arte: le vie del centro sono adornate dalle opere di autori come Palladio, Canova, Jacopo Da Ponte, Marinali e Dall’Acqua. A Bassano si trova il Museo Civico più antico nel Veneto che merita una visita assieme alla suggestiva Loggia dei Potestà. Ma il monumento simbolo della città è il Ponte Vecchio, costruito sul progetto del Palladio che lega la sua immagine all’epopea degli alpini della Grande Guerra. Nei secoli, a causa di improvvise piene, è stato ripetutamente ricostruito rispettando ogni volta l’originario disegno palladiano.

The enchanting geographical position surrounded by hills and favored by a mild climate, allows the traveler to immerse themselves in the enchantment of this medieval town located in the Vicenza area.
The architectural context of Bassano del Grappa is a dive into art: the streets of the center are adorned with the works of authors such as Palladio, Canova, Jacopo Da Ponte, Marinali and Dall'Acqua. In Bassano there is the oldest Civic Museum in the Veneto region which is worth a visit together with the suggestive Loggia dei Potestà. But the symbolic monument of the city is the Ponte Vecchio, built on the project of Palladio who links its image to the epic of the Alpine troops of the Great War. Over the centuries, due to sudden floods, it has been repeatedly rebuilt respecting the original Palladian design each time.

The Bass Rock, or simply the Bass, is an island in the outer part of the Firth of Forth in the east of Scotland. Approximately 2 kilometres offshore, and 5 kilometres north-east of North Berwick, it is a steep-sided volcanic rock, 107 metres at its highest point, and is home to a large colony of gannets. The rock is uninhabited, but historically has been settled by an early Christian hermit, and later was the site of an important castle, which after the Commonwealth period was used as a prison.

Bass Rock as a silhouette against the setting sun. A productive day removing 75 lifts of Lighthouse maintenance materials by helicopter to our deck was rewarded with this view as we sailed away.

IL FIUME BRENTA.
Il Brenta in prossimità di Bassano del Grappa è attraversato da due ponti, il famoso Ponte degli Alpini progettato dal Palladio, ed il Ponte della Vittoria,molto più recente.
Il fiume è grande e di buona portata, la vegetazione sulle sponde è rigogliosa e le acque scorrono tranquille.
Risulta però poco adatto a chi ama la pesca “solitaria”... diversi infatti potrebbero essere i curiosi di fronte ad un bel bottino.
A valle di Bassano il fiume scorre nell'alta pianura alluvionale dove, per effetto delle dispersioni in alveo e dei notevoli prelievi per l'irrigazione, la portata risulta discontinua e decisamente ridotta.

IL TEMPIO OSSARIO.
Il Tempio Ossario di Bassano del Grappa è un grandioso edificio che svetta su Piazzale Cadorna, appena fuori dalle mura meridionali della cittadina veneta. Dall'esterno la costruzione possiede tutte le caratteristiche di un duomo in stile neogotico, con due campanili e una facciata decorata con diversi pinnacoli e rosoni. Una volta entrati invece è possibile rendere omaggio alle 5.405 salme risalenti alla Grande Guerra, traslate negli anni '30 dai numerosi cimiteri sparsi sulle pendici del Massiccio del Grappa.
Questo edificio avrebbe dovuto essere in realtà la nuova cattedrale della cittadina veneta. Nel 1908 le autorità laiche e religiose decisero di far partire i primi lavori che però si interruppero pochi anni dopo a causa della mancanza di soldi e dello scoppio del conflitto mondiale. Negli anni '20 la Curia vicentina e l'Alto commissariato del Governo decisero di riprendere i lavori convertendo però il progetto iniziale con un Tempio Ossario visto il grande numero di cimiteri militari sorti nella zona. L'architetto trevigiano Pietro del Fabro, che lavorò anche al Sacrario di Fagarè e in quello dello Stelvio, modificò alcuni aspetti architettonici mentre l'artista Tito Chini, ex soldato della Prima Armata e già all'opera nel Sacrario del Pasubio, affrescò gli interni.
L'inaugurazione avvenne il 13 maggio 1934 alla presenza del principe ereditario Umberto di Savoia.

The rock is uninhabited, but historically has been settled by an early Christian hermit, and later was the site of an important castle, which after the Commonwealth period was used as a prison. The island belongs to Sir Hew Hamilton-Dalrymple, whose family acquired it in 1706, and before to the Lauder family for almost six centuries. The Bass Rock Lighthouse was constructed on the rock in 1902, and the remains of an ancient chapel survive.
The Bass Rock features in many works of fiction, including Robert Louis Stevenson's “Catriona” and “The Lion is Rampant” by the Scottish novelist Ross Laidlaw. [Wikipedia]
