The Bass Rock, or simply the Bass, is an island in the outer part of the Firth of Forth in the east of Scotland
Fortunate to have good weather for my one chance at photographing sunset from Bass Harbor Lighthouse at Acadia National Park. This was taken at dusk after the Sun went down behind the treeline. Lucky the afterglow was still providing good color on the clouds.

she never saw him very much
he was always busy
he said he played away from home
but she thought he might be lazy
why did he never call her
whilst he was away
and when he came back again
he slept the night and day !

The Bass of Inverurie was a former motte and bailey castle. It was built by the Earls of Garioch in the 1100's. It is quite unique and an interesting find for me a few years ago.
This is probably one of the most photographed lighthouses in Maine. In fact, Popular Photography magazine chose a photograph of this very lighthouse as one of their best travel photos of the year. (that shot was sooo much better than mine)
I posted a couple shots of the lighthouse shortly after my trip, but forgot about a series of shots I'd saved with an adjusted white balance. Since I'm in a major photo slump, I thought I'd share one of those photos today. I think the hotter color temperature emphasizes the glowing end-of-day light. It's also a post processing trick that takes all of ten seconds to implement which is nice for people (like me) who don't enjoy post-processing that much.

Some more great Jazz music at the Manly Jazz Festival this afternoon, and another opportunity to experiment with multiple exposures.
I really liked the way the Bass Player's face created a progression of its own.
9 exposures on Average mode (in Camera)
Recently completed a (first time) trip to Acadia National Park, and every photographer comes home with a picture of Bass Harbor Head Light.
On this particular evening the conditions were very favorable. The place was absolutely crawling with people (including photogs), but most had left when this part of the light show took place. I've learned to stick it out until the end...
Thanks for looking!

Visiting places like this or parks during the summer, especially sunset, is not a good idea. There are just too many people. Sunrise is the best time, unfortunately a lot of them won't be open before the sun comes out.
Today, there were so many people. Good thing I am at the best spot. At least another person wants my place.
