This is probably one of the most photographed lighthouses in Maine. In fact, Popular Photography magazine chose a photograph of this very lighthouse as one of their best travel photos of the year. (that shot was sooo much better than mine)
I posted a couple shots of the lighthouse shortly after my trip, but forgot about a series of shots I'd saved with an adjusted white balance. Since I'm in a major photo slump, I thought I'd share one of those photos today. I think the hotter color temperature emphasizes the glowing end-of-day light. It's also a post processing trick that takes all of ten seconds to implement which is nice for people (like me) who don't enjoy post-processing that much.
On this evening I went out to Bass Harbor Headlight in Acadia NP, which I have never been to before, so I did not know what to expect. The stairs leading to the water were fine, but the shoreline was something very different.
This is a rough, dangerous decent to a small flat spot at Low tide to get the best vantage point and needless to say, it was sketchy, but well worth the effort.
This is a five image Focus Stack
Visiting places like this or parks during the summer, especially sunset, is not a good idea. There are just too many people. Sunrise is the best time, unfortunately a lot of them won't be open before the sun comes out.
Today, there were so many people. Good thing I am at the best spot. At least another person wants my place.

The Bass Rock in the Firth of Forth is one of the largest Northern Gannet colonies in the world. From Leven on the north side of the Firth, only the top of the Rock is visible (flat-earthers, please note) and the top, during summer, reflects stark white from all the droppings (whitewash) and the birds themselves. The birds have now left and the recent storms have washed off the whitewash. A vast new windfarm is being built about 20-30 miles to the east of the Forth and one of their supply vessels van been seen on the right. Very stormy conditions yesterday made for an atmospheric shot with the sea spray showing up as a pale haze

“Bass Brewery was founded in 1777 by William Bass in Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire, England. The main brand was Bass Pale Ale, once the highest-selling beer in the UK. By 1877, Bass had become the largest brewery in the world, with an annual output of one million barrels. Its pale ale was exported throughout the British Empire, and the company's red triangle became the UK's first registered trade mark.
Bass took control of a number of other large breweries in the early 20th century. In the 1960s it merged with Charrington United Breweries to become the largest UK brewing company, Bass Charrington. The brewing operations of the company were bought by Interbrew (now Anheuser-Busch InBev) in 2000, while the retail side (hotels and pubs) was renamed Six Continents plc. Because at the time Interbrew controlled a large portion of the UK beer market, the Competition Commission instructed Interbrew to sell the Bass brewery along with certain brands to Coors (now Molson Coors), while retaining the rights to the Bass brand. In 2010, it was widely reported that AB-InBev was attempting to sell the rights to the Bass brand in the UK for around £10 million to £15 million.
In the UK, draught Bass (4.4% ABV) has been brewed under contract in Burton by Marston's (formerly a relatively minor competitor) for AB-InBev since 2005, while bottled products are brewed at AB-InBev's own brewery in Samlesbury, Lancashire, for export. Bass is also brewed locally in the United States and Belgium. Bass Ale is a top ten premium canned ale in the UK, with 16,080 hectolitres sold in 2010.”

30mm f/2.8, Canon EOS R a 6400 ISO.
Buona giornata :)
