The kit and its assembly:

I haven’t built many E-50/75 battle tanks so far, rather specialized derivatives based on the Einheitspanzer chassis. When I recently came across an aftermarket set for a fictional, 3D-printed added armor for 1:35 E-50/75 tanks with a Henschel turret I eventually thought that this concept was worth of a 1:72 model, my favorite armor scale. So, I dug out a Trumpeter 1:72 E-75 MBT (with a very long fictional 105 mm gun) and started to build and convert it using the aforementioned aftermarket set as inspiration.

 

Compared with the 1:72 ModelCollect kit(s) of the E-50/75 family the Trumpeter kit is very simple, but not bad in detail. There are no optional parts, and the E-75 running gear is mostly molded onto the hull – the ModelCollect kits come with individual coil spring packages and single swing arms that let you build either an E-50 or -75 from the universal basic kit, even though this solution is complicated and flimsy. All wheels and the tracks (black vinyl) of the much simpler Trumpeter offering are separate, though.

The kit’s hull consists of an upper and lower half, just like the huge turret. The hull was taken OOB, I just removed segments from the mudguards on both sides and dented the remainder for a worn look. The turret was also taken OOB, together with the gun’s mount. However, the ridiculously long, muzzle-brake-free barrel for the fictional 105 mm gun was cut off and replaced with a white metal/brass KwK 43 12.8 cm gun barrel, which looks IMHO a lot better and even more menacing, due to its massiveness!

 

The biggest mods were made around the turret front and flanks: I literally added external armor through 2C putty sheets, sanded/sculpted them into shape (including a separate section for the gun mantlet) and added details like openings for targeting scope and co-axial machine gun as well as bolts that hold the armor in place. Quite a tedious process but bringing the hand-sculpted add-ons into a quite edgy shape simply took time, and the parts were not supposed to be too thick.

As an extra I also cut out some 0.5mm styrene sheet bits and glued them on “pillars” onto the turret roof and over some vents on the engine deck, as an extra armor against air attacks (as described in the background, a real-life measure that was, for instance, realized on some late Panther MBTs).

Featuring two sets of main blades which rotate in different directions. This makes them more stable in flight than single blade RC helicopters and therefore much easier to learn on. If you have never flown a radio controlled helicopter before starting with a twin blade helicopter before moving onto a single blade is recommended.

With the introduction of the Yeti line back in 2014, the bar was set. Axial introduced a vehicle that featured independent front suspension(IFS) with a floating solid rear axle, something commonly reserved only for the full size off-road realm. This time around, the decision was made to make things a wee bit smaller, while still providing a high level of performance. Enter, The Yeti Jr.™ SCORE® Trophy Truck® - RTR. We’ve taken all that you’ve come to love and appreciate in the Yeti chassis, but shrunk it down to 1/18th scale. It’s powered by a 380 sized brushed motor which provides the perfect amount of torque and speed for this tiny Trophy Truck® monster. Also featuring a bespoke all-in-one programmable Tactic ESC and receiver, paired with a 3-wire micro high torque steering servo. At the end of the day, the goal was to build a simple, fun, and easy to drive Yeti that anyone can handle. The hardest part about the Yeti Jr.™ SCORE® Trophy Truck® is making sure you have enough battery packs charged in order to keep the adventure alive! And to top it off we went straight to Roger Norman, CEO/President of SCORE® International, for his blessing and for official licensing.

And he hauled out his very own Axial SCX10 Jeep JK that has received some additional upgrades.

2005 marked the birth of the Axial brand, and shortly after, thoughts about the first SCX10 began, with development wrapping up in 2008. The SCX10 was introduced to the world as a builders kit, paving the way, or better yet, raising the bar for a new generation of scale trail enthusiasts. Previously, hobbyists had to “scratch build” a rig which presented a lot of technical hurdles to overcome. The SCX10 kit gave these “artists” time to focus their attention on other things like personalization and visual customization by removing the issues scratch-built scale rigs presented. And, it wasn’t just as a great kit to build, it was also a very capable driving machine, making it the de facto scale rig the world over. The SCX10 chassis platform provided all the technical attributes as well as scale looks with its signature all-metal twin c-channel frame, solid performing transmission and axles that provided enough realism with capabilities to match.

 

With the SCX10 II, we’ve kept essence of the SCX10 there with all-metal twin c-channel frame rails, but that’s only 2% of the 98% of a completely new design. Scale AR44 high pinion axles, a chassis mounted servo (CMS), re-designed transmission, front mounted battery tray, all aluminum suspension links, and a properly designed suspension for nearly zero bump steer.
