When John A. Thompson responded to an ad in the Sacramento Union: “People Lost to the World; Uncle Sam Needs a Mail Carrier”, he had no idea he was to become a living legend. A crowd formed in Placerville for his first mail run in January, 1856. Few had faith that he would make it over the 7,500 foot passes on his homemade 10 foot long, 25 pound oak skis, and a 100 pound sack of medicine, emergency supplies, clothing, books, tools, pots and pans, and letters containing much anticipated news. But one optimistic voice in the crowd called out: “Good luck, Snowshoe Thompson” and he set out to become a legendary postman and father of California skiing. Two to four times a month for twenty winters, regardless of weather, Snowshoe Thompson set out at the appointed hour. The Genoa postmaster S.A. Kinsey said: “Most remarkable man I ever knew, that Snowshoe Thompson. He must be made of iron. With the introduction of the Yeti line back in 2014, the bar was set. Axial introduced a vehicle that featured independent front suspension(IFS) with a floating solid rear axle, something commonly reserved only for the full size off-road realm. This time around, the decision was made to make things a wee bit smaller, while still providing a high level of performance. Enter, The Yeti Jr.™ SCORE® Trophy Truck® - RTR. We’ve taken all that you’ve come to love and appreciate in the Yeti chassis, but shrunk it down to 1/18th scale. It’s powered by a 380 sized brushed motor which provides the perfect amount of torque and speed for this tiny Trophy Truck® monster. Also featuring a bespoke all-in-one programmable Tactic ESC and receiver, paired with a 3-wire micro high torque steering servo. At the end of the day, the goal was to build a simple, fun, and easy to drive Yeti that anyone can handle. The hardest part about the Yeti Jr.™ SCORE® Trophy Truck® is making sure you have enough battery packs charged in order to keep the adventure alive! And to top it off we went straight to Roger Norman, CEO/President of SCORE® International, for his blessing and for official licensing.

Axial XR10™ MOTOR-ON-AXLE COMPETITION ROCK CRAWLER: features behind the axle (BTA) steering, over-sized universals, dual motors, and adjustable mounts, just to name a few features. The enclosed steering slides with turnbuckles to adjust toe in and out with 8 degree kingpin angles to decrease scrub radius and allows for tighter turns. The adjustable body and shock mounts, and chassis upper link adjustment holes also provide multiple options to configure your rig to how you like it. Wheels include Axial 2.2 competition beadlocks made from CNC orange anodized rings and Vanquish patented wheel weight systems and includes Axial's competition inspired "hardline body" which has been designed, laid-out, and sized for optimum performance (meets U.S.R.C.C.A minimum requirements).

The 400 m2 site was purchased with an approved Resource Consent for a family home – and so a revised brief was developed to fit into the approved envelope.The site is developed to its maximum both visually and physically, with a play on transparency and the flow of spaces from in to out. A variety of outdoor rooms complement the bold pavilion forms. They are linked by a circulation gallery – which also creates an axial focus for the full length of the site on entry.The street pavilion has the potential to become two guest rooms which share a bathroom and lounge area. The rear pavilion is private and contains an indulgent main bedroom suite.Sliding glass panels disappear into pockets to create open balconies for living and sleeping, and focus on the central courtyard as their oasis. Driving a radio control vehicle from a “control area” aka – driver stand or from a stationary position, has been the industry’s, well… standard. Axial’s stance has been to not stand in one place, but to move with the vehicle, covering vast terrain.
