Com um ano de idade, segundo meus pais, eu já cantava "Maracangalha". E continuei cantando e cantarei, até o dia em que Deus se cansar da minha voz sobre a Terra, as pérolas que nosso amado Dorival nos deu de presente, sob a forma de canções tão lindas e simples que nos faziam crer ser muito fácil ser genial. Dorival Caymmi, para sempre mestre, genio da simplicidade, Buda Nagô, arqueiro zen nunca errando o alvo da nossa alma com seu coração onde sempre sopra uma brisa de mar e malícia e as morenas cheias de dengo e os pescadores valentes vêm namorar sabendo que a vida é isso, o momento que não volta, o tempo presente, o gozo de viver. Não há como não ser triste esse dia de sol, o primeiro de minha vida sem Dorival Caymmi. Com ele se vai mais um pedaço do meu pai, do que ele me legou de mais rico e perene em nossa convivência, um olhar sensível sobre o mundo e, junto com ele, o amor pelas canções de Caymmi. Resta o sentimento profundo de continuidade e emoção que sinto quando, junto com meu filho pequeno, mais novo ainda que eu quando cantava "Maracangalha", fico escutando Caymmi e o vejo tentar balbuciar do seu jeito um verso de "Peguei Um Ita No Norte". Nessa hora eu tenho certeza que Caymmi nunca nos deixará, eternizado para sempre dentro de nós, na nossa alma romântica e sonhadora , com sua herança de paz, sabedoria e sensibilidade.

Broad axe with curved wooden handle painted green, c. 1775-1850. Handle is cracked at the shoulder. Eye is loose and re-wedged with stamped nails.

Axe Valley are low-flooring their fleet! I think they are 100% low floor now, although I think some of the single decks aren't DDA compliant for next year.
Recipitant of a recent repaint and therefore probably DDA compliant, here is X506WRG heading off for Sidmouth on the 899. X506WRG, I think, was new to Go North East before seemingly moving to Axe Valley from Amber Bus in Sunderland.

La maison-colonne
Dans l'axe même de l'entrée, Monville s'était fait construire pour la belle saison, en 1780-1781, une spacieuse habitation en forme de fragment de colonne géante, de 25 m de haut et de 15 m de diamètre. Dans chacune de ses seize cannelures, larges de six pieds, se logeaient trois étages de baies : portes-fenêtres au rez-de-chaussée, fenêtres carrées au premier, ovales au deuxième. De fausses fissures partaient du sommet de la colonne et s'élargissaient par endroits afin d'éclairer le dernier étage. C'était une de ces architectures fantastiques dans l'esprit de Nicolas Ledoux et d'Etienne Louis Boullée dont raffolait l'époque.
L'intérieur de la colonne se composait de salons, salles à manger, chambres à coucher, alcôves distribués autour d'un escalier central en spirale que couronnait et éclairait une verrière. Leur raffinement était extrême. L'inventaire après saisie qui fut fait sous la Révolution énumère les tentures de toiles peintes, les appliques de cuivre doré servant à l'éclairage, les cheminées de marbre blanc ornées de feuilles d'acanthe. Des gravures, des tableaux de maîtres décoraient les murs. On y voyait les bustes de George Washington et de Benjamin Franklin. Il s'y ajoutait un nombre impressionnant de bronzes et de biscuits de Sèvres, ainsi que des groupes en terre cuite représentant plusieurs figures humaines… dans des postures que la décence empêche de décrire.

I was happy to find five old heads in a garbage load. A nice project to make shafts for them.
I've got five usable axes. All those on which I found some markings are either Fiskars or Billnäs axes, which are actually the same company nowadays, namely Fiskars. On the lower left, anyway, is Marttiini trekking axe.
The one with letters AJ used to be my late father's. You can bet I am not selling this one first.
Taken using a Camera Axe 4 and valve sensor, Nikon D7000 fitted with a Sigma 150 macro lens,
The splash was made using water mixed with a little red food colouring and guar gum dropped into a tray of red water
3 flash units were used to light the shot, 2 with red gels positioned to the sides to light the splash and 1 positioned behind frosted glass to the rear
