Another ex-First Scania L94UB Wright Axcess Floline in the ConnexionsBuses fleet, S574 TPW came from Eastern Counties (66574). This has also been in the Northampton fleet... though the 'PW' registration suffix originates from South Wales, which means this bus does fit in with other vehicles which have been with Connexions in the past and have originated from Newport Transport. Seen heading over the A64 near Copmanthorpe after running afternoon school service 093S and now going back to depot.

Leaving Harrogate bus station with an HCT service X1 to Knaresborough is Scania L113CRL Wright Axcess Ultralow N414 ENW. A remarkable survivor, this bus was new in late 1995 to Rider York for Park and Ride duties as fleet number 8414 in a distinctive 2-tone blue livery and was one member in the very first full batch of low floor buses for Yorkshire. Along with later additions as the P&R operation expanded, this stayed in York for 7 years until 2002 when the entire singe decker York fleet had been replaced by inferior Volvo B7L's and B6BLE's - this bus moved to Potteries for a while beofre settling in the Leeds fleet. A rear-end collision almost spelled the end for this, however the decision was made to rebuild and repair to keep it in use. Upon reentering service with Firstgroup, it had been given the new Olympia livery and at the time was the oldest bus in passenger service to gain the livery. Withdrawn in late summer 2014, it was feared this would make a one-way trip to Barnsley - but instead was saved by Craig Temple of ConnexionsBuses; initially bought for preservation, a full inspection revealled it's condition was simply too good for it to not see a bit more use in service for now. So it has beenr epainted into fleet livery, minus fleetnames, and is getting a bit of use around their network (though eventually it'll settle for use on schools).

It's original Yorkshire Rider fleetnumber can be seen to the nearside of the destination display.

This week (ending 7 July 2012) sees the end of First's services 71 and 72 in the Wirral, run from Liverpool to Heswall, via Irby and Pensby respectively. They are to be replaced by services 471 and 472, a Quality Partenrship with contributions from both First and Arriva. The timetable leaflet tells us that the buses to be used 'are fitted with state of the art, low emission engines for a cleaner, greener environment'.

So I think we can take it that First 60052 (R810NVT), a 13 year old Scania L113, is unlikely to find itself rostered for the service from next week. Further doubt is cast by First's recent decision to put up for sale, the Rock Ferry garage where this vehicle is based.

On the last week of operation, 60052 heads through the sylvan shades of Thingwall Road toward Irby.

(as a matter of interest, when I geoptagged this image, Flickr's new mapping utility proudly announced that the picture had been taken in Dublin!)

61074 is a Scania L113CRL / Wright Axcess-Ultralow new to Yorkshire Rider in June 1998 (as 8460). Now painted in First Group Leeds as 61074 (as it was withdrawn), it makes an unusual sight in rural Nottinghamshire!

A Wright Axcess Ultralow bodied Scania L113CRL in Stoackbridge Village, Liverpool

Arriva on Merseyside Scania L113CRL-Wright Axcess Ultralow low floor bus departs from Queen Square bus station in Liverpool city centre with a 13 Liverpool to Stockbridge Village service. This vehicle was new to Merseyside Transport Limited in September 1996.

Wright Axcess Ultralow bodied Scania L113CRL 527 branded for network orange line. Back in the day this was the 35 to Bulwell as well as the 37 to Beeston, but the 37 is no more. It was the QMC bus for a time as well with branded Solos, and then Solo SRs, but the route was withdrawn in the end along with the 13 and 14, which did still serve Beeston.

The model really needs a touch-up as the bumper is hanging off and some areas around the windscreen and driver's window needs black paint to cover up green that shouldn't be there!

I think 527 used to be a demonstrator or something before it came to NCT as it's registration doesn't match the rest of the Ultralow buses. Next bus up is (the legendary) 528 Wright Solar before Scania Omnicity numbering began at 529 (although some have low numbers in the 500 series and some in the 200 series so the Omnicities were numbered a bit haphazardly it seems).

Yet another ex First Scania joins the Connexionsbuses fleet - it has been partially repainted and its First Olympia upper colours are still in place. T563BSS is ex First Leeds. Stablemate T562BSS arrived at Connexionsbuses via Stagecoach after Stagecoach purchased First's Wirral/Cheshire operation.
