Not sure what's going on with this registration plate. It looks like I have badly used photoshop (or worse Paint!) but this vehicle was running in this condition. Surely far from legal!

Leaving Harrogate with an HCT service X70 to Wetherby (then 870 to Knaresborough and back to Harrogate) is Scania L113CRL Wright Axcess Ultralow N414 ENW. A remarkable survivor, this bus was new in late 1995 to Rider York for Park and Ride duties as fleet number 8414 in a distinctive 2-tone blue livery and was one member in the very first full batch of low floor buses for Yorkshire. Along with later additions as the P&R operation expanded, this stayed in York for 7 years until 2002 when the entire singe decker York fleet had been replaced by inferior Volvo B7L's and B6BLE's - this bus moved to Potteries for a while beofre settling in the Leeds fleet. A rear-end collision almost spelled the end for this, however the decision was made to rebuild and repair to keep it in use. Upon reentering service with Firstgroup, it had been given the new Olympia livery and at the time was the oldest bus in passenger service to gain the livery. Withdrawn in late summer 2014, it was feared this would make a one-way trip to Barnsley - but instead was saved by Craig Temple of ConnexionsBuses; initially bought for preservation, a full inspection revealled it's condition was simply too good for it to not see a bit more use in service for now. So it has beenr epainted into fleet livery, minus fleetnames, and is getting a bit of use around their network (though eventually it'll settle for use on schools).

It's original Yorkshire Rider fleetnumber can be seen to the nearside of the destination display.

Scania L94UB Wright Axcess Floline T575 JNG was new to First Eastern Counties at Kings Lynn but later moved on to Northampton... now with ConnexionsBuses it is on Fulford Road in York as a newcomer to this part of the city, running school service 093S to Stillingfleet having taken over from failed operator Utopia.

ConnexionsBuses S801 SJV is a Scania L94 Wright Axcess Floline which has previously been with Lincolnshire Road Car and then Stagecoach - seen here leaving Harrogate bus station with the HCT route X1 to Knaresborough, a commercial service competing against Transdev... and presumably due to how the services are timetabled to comete, the destination 'via' line includes the text "we lead, others follow".

This bus will be the first or second vehicle to be withdrawn from service once for ex-Eddie Brown Wright Solar's have been repainted and are put into service.

Scania L113CRL Wright Axcess Ultralow is still in its temporary branding for routes 201 and 211, which together wind their way from Nottingham to Grantham. Since plans for 2020 have (obviously) been pushed back to 2021, 6 has remained the branded bus for the 201/211 even if it hasn't seen an awful lot of use on those routes.

A dilemma I've always faced for the 201/211 is what buses to use on it, as it requires two but only one gets branding. A mix of high speeds but low loadings provides a special set of circumstances which leaves most buses with a flaw somewhere. A big bus like 6 has plenty of 'oomph' to get up to 50 on the A roads and plod along all day, but is a thirsty motor being a full size bus and it carries a lot of fresh air. A small bus like 19 (which used to be the regular for the 201) is the right size for the amount of passengers, but after a few years the constant thrashing up the A52 takes its toll on the lower displacement engine and lightweight mechanicals.

Scania Omnitowns would be useful but they're a lot of work to try and make and I'm prioritising depictions of NCT vehicles over the model fleet. What I've ultimately decided to do is replace the Enviro-Darts on the P&R with double deckers and use the Darts on the 201/211 since they have the larger 6 cylinder engines and, while still longer than ideal, are still built like a midibus so they are lighter and more economical to run... not to mention their entire driveline was renewed in 2017 so they are some of the most efficient and robust vehicles in the fleet, despite dating from 1996.

When the E-Darts move over, the 201/211 are going to change slightly and be joined by a new X11 route, effectively making a mini-network that the Darts will be branded up for. In fact, I've got a whole raft of service and fleet changes planned for RB - but all of it relies on me being able to buy some reasonably priced, modern, low floor double deckers for the P&R... right now I think I've got a better chance of being able to buy a real life unicorn.

The other Ultalow LUI9598 Is now parked at the Kirbymoorside depot presumably for school work and local town services but it may well move back to the Tholthorpe depot to replace J6SOE & J18BUS (sees no use)
