First Scotland East's Linvingston-based Scania L94UB/Wrightbus Axcess Floline 62385 (V527 ESH), which carries First's generic livery, is pictured here at Dunfermline Bus Station, Dunfermline, whilst working service 651 to Dunfermline. 16/08/14

The DDA date for single deck buses came into force on 1st January 2016 and has resulted in various single deck buses being withdrawn across the country. A selection of former Midland Bluebird buses are currently stored on the land opposite Bannockburn garage. They include Volvo B10BLE/Wright Renown 62182 (X683 ADK), Volvo B10BLE/Alexander ALX300 62206 (W594 RFS) and Scania L94/Wright Axcess Floline 65601 (W601 SNG).

Previously with First Midland Bluebird Ltd as their 62301 (R544 ALS), Scania L113CRL/Wright Axcess Ultralow, she is pictured here standing in Alpha Recovery of Dudley's yard, pending scrap, having been withdrawn from the First Midland Bluebird Ltd fleet. 29/12/13

Other vehicles shown in-shot here are 61503 (P533 TYS) of First Glasgow, which is now pending the same fate.

ALPHA RECOVERY LTD is based at Dudley in the Cramlington area of Northumberland. Conveniently positioned for easy access to both the A19 and the A1, Alpha Recovery can easily serve the whole of the area from Scotland and South down the A1, and they are within easy access of Newcastle, Edinburgh, Carlisle, Durham, North Yorkshire, Cumbria and Teesside.

This faulty Scania is limped into the workshop, very low on one side, due to a problem with the airbags, which will be fixed before the vehicle is sent to Smith's for repaint. The vehicle will be painted white, and act as a spare bus for both companies.

During 1995/6 Rider York, which had taken over the former AJS Holdings company York City & District, along with Reynard Pullman and Target Travel. Had won the contract for the City Park and Ride site, which was operated by Stephensons of Easingwold. The contract wanted the use of modern low floor single decker vehicles with low floor access. Scania L113CRL chassis with new Wrights Axcess-ultralow bodies were ordered and delivered in 1996, as numbers 8406-8425. 8406-8414 were painted into the blue Park and Ride livery, as 8415-25 arrived in overall white livery with Park and Ride branding.

Preserved 8414 which was last seen by myself in May 2013 working the 28 Adel to Clarence Dock service, in the Olympia livery. Has been restored back to its former glory as a Rider York Park and Ride bus. Here the bus is seen working a duplicate run during the 2022 Dewsbury Spring open day.

Newly preserved Midland Bluebird 578 leaves Larbert Road off to its new home at Bridgeton Bus garage.

Unfortunately this shot doesn't do 578 proper justice but when you see it in the flesh it really does look the part and could almost be straight off the production line.

Many thanks to the guys who allowed me inside for a closer look this morning, Midland 1996, Fargie and Rednight.

Thanks guys much appreciated and i hope you had a safe journey.

Currently in storage at Omega's Gateshead depot is this Wright Scania Axcess. It is due to be transferred to Smith's where it will be repainted, however, as seen by the lean, we believe there is a problem with the airbags.

A remarkable survivor with First in Leeds is this Wright Axcess Floline bodied Scania L94, captured in the winter slush in City Square, Leeds. There are several similar vehicles in all day service although with the number of new buses planned for Leeds, they can't be around for much longer.
