I just feel like uploading something, since I haven't been uploading for a few days now. :)
Yesterday, I just kept walking around my garden, with the camera, and my beautiful prime lens to take some simple bokeh shots. Was so mesmerized with the sunshine as always :)

I sprung awake at 0300 and decided to make the 1.25 hr drive up to Marin to look for fog. Well, the fog rolled in alright but was just a little high and covered most of the city skyline. While the fog blanket was swallowing up the bridge, Angel Island was getting some attention from the rising sun.
This is a single exposure, double processed and fed into Nik HDR efex. Hope you like it.
The lens is an older 120mm macro that I am trying for the first time. It took a drenching from all the condensation this morning; there was a steady drip from the tip of the lens. I could've filled my canteen...

This is a 41 shot panorama from Olmstead point off of Tioga road.
We stayed here a majority of the night framing up images from the final light of the night until around 3 in the morning. This image was taken in June of 2016.
the flapping-whirring wings help the insectark fly with the wind on the Plain, above the wawes of the high-growing grass. Most of the atmosphere generators are still awake, around these you always find a cluster of trader barges, mercenaries and other shady cutthroats hanging around on their noisy flapters.

Awake Enough was the title of a recent blog post by David duChemin, one of my favorite modern photography writers. Within his writings he states: "study your craft, then let it get out of the way." I've spent a good bit of time this autumn worrying about whether I'm good enough; wondering why some days it comes so easily and others it's such a struggle. I've missed far more than I've captured this autumn season--seen more epic light from the car than from behind the camera. I've reviewed images that I wished were better composed, exposed, sharper. Then I was reminded by duChemin's blog post: "It's not about being good enough--though craft matters, it's too late in the moment to do much about our shortcomings--it's about being alive enough." I'm going to try to be alive in the moment when I'm out there, and let the rest lie wherever it may.
This one tosses all of the photographic rules/guidelines right out of the window! The sun sets over autumn-tinted mountain layers as seen from Cowee Mountain Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Western North Carolina. I shot this image while visiting North Carolina to help fellow photographer, Dave Allen, with his autumn mountain colors workshop this past weekend. Fantastic group of individuals and wonderful weather conditions along the Blue Ridge Parkway made for a very enjoyable weekend--thanks to Dave and the participants for letting me tag along on the adventure!

It is an overview of the Spanish artist Antonio López (1936) on display in the large exhibition hall.
Spanish Realism is the first major solo exhibition. Paintings - including portraits, still lifes and enormous Madrid cityscapes - drawings and sculpture can be admired.

A foggy sunrise somewhere in Georgia...or maybe South Carolina...since i am barely coherent at that hour of the morning and incidental info like that gets stamped as such in my brain and tossed out! Taken while cruising on home in the Mini Cooper S...have i mentioned i LOVE that car!? (Probably more times than my brother cares to remember.)
Yesterday was a VERY long day... awake at 3am to help get ready to head back home from Florida. My mom is doing well and we have her as settled and set as possible for now.
I am working on negotiating skills to get her to agree to come to NC at least for a while, sometime in the fall when i finally have the house there pretty much intact and furnished. She is softening on that prospect ...but then, she might be just considering it to shut me up! Ya simply can’t trust those wiley older folks!
Today i feel a bit washed out and am making an effort to recover by doing my laundry and unpacking....and yes....beginning to sort out in my head all the things i will be needing for a month in NC beginning on my birthday. I am thinking what a nice birthday gift that is to head down there and just “be”, as i ready for the fall and the National Wildlife Preserve show, in Manteo.
