I'm dying to breathe in these abundant skies...
First photoshoot today with people other than my two lovely best friends, so wish me luck!
The clouds part over the Hawaiian Island of Lanai, allowing the sun to light the slopes and rugged canyons facing Maui.
Lanai is the 6th largest of the Hawaiian Islands, measuring 18 miles across. It was formerly known as the Pineapple Island because of the island-wide pineapple plantation which used to be there. Since 2012, 98% of the island has been owned by Larry Ellison of Oracle, and 2% is owned by the state of Hawaii. There are two hotels on the island, and no traffic lights.
Blended from three exposures, this shows a similar view to yesterday's slightly wider sunset post, shown below in comments.
Dear shooting star:
There seems to be a misunderstanding.
[...I'm not that convinced. Maybe I'm going to erase it again. :-/]

... ese bonito momento cuando la luz juega con nuestro cuerpo y nos avisa que hay que despertarse, ... por suerte estaba de vacaciones :)

I just feel like uploading something, since I haven't been uploading for a few days now. :)
Yesterday, I just kept walking around my garden, with the camera, and my beautiful prime lens to take some simple bokeh shots. Was so mesmerized with the sunshine as always :)

Yosemite national park, CA
This is a 41 shot panorama from Olmstead point off of Tioga road.
We stayed here a majority of the night framing up images from the final light of the night until around 3 in the morning. This image was taken in June of 2016.
(Oscar Montes)

Awake Enough was the title of a recent blog post by David duChemin, one of my favorite modern photography writers. Within his writings he states: "study your craft, then let it get out of the way." I've spent a good bit of time this autumn worrying about whether I'm good enough; wondering why some days it comes so easily and others it's such a struggle. I've missed far more than I've captured this autumn season--seen more epic light from the car than from behind the camera. I've reviewed images that I wished were better composed, exposed, sharper. Then I was reminded by duChemin's blog post: "It's not about being good enough--though craft matters, it's too late in the moment to do much about our shortcomings--it's about being alive enough." I'm going to try to be alive in the moment when I'm out there, and let the rest lie wherever it may.
This one tosses all of the photographic rules/guidelines right out of the window! The sun sets over autumn-tinted mountain layers as seen from Cowee Mountain Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Western North Carolina. I shot this image while visiting North Carolina to help fellow photographer, Dave Allen, with his autumn mountain colors workshop this past weekend. Fantastic group of individuals and wonderful weather conditions along the Blue Ridge Parkway made for a very enjoyable weekend--thanks to Dave and the participants for letting me tag along on the adventure!
