I decided to experiment with multiflash and the Gerber 06 Automatic Tanto. The background is busy but I got a fairly good effect. I'll have to work on it.
The Shoppers Drug Mart store at the Westgate Plaza in Saskatoon was renovated in 2004. With that renovation came these doors, which were installed as part of that renovation. However, when it comes to to problems, the exit door that leads you outside has seemingly had its worst share of problems. Yesterday, it wasn't really automatic anymore. While the equipment worked the way it should, the fancy metal that pushes and closes the door fell off its usual position.
Second of three cameras I received this last week. The third, a Konica S2.
Cleaned it up a bit and rewired the meter (the wiring is almost always corroded). works great! Haven't finished the roll yet.

I was recently at the Safeway store at the Confederation Mall in Saskatoon. The mall has doors identical to this door pictured here, except everything that is red here is green at the mall entrances. However, looking at this door, it brings back a lot of crappy memories. This Safeway store has five automatic doors in its foyer (four and this one on the side). The main four have been replaced with similar doors, but not the same pattern, but this one remains here for some strange reason. Now, about this old one, something about it stuck out, and it was the sensor for the door. The sensor is super old, and it's a little bit rare to see anything that old on any automatic door these days. And do you see that "IN ONLY" sticker? It's pasted onto the window from the outside, and is backwards. If applied properly, there is an old Safeway logo and it says "IN." Now, on the other side of the door, there is a sticker that is applied properly. If you remove the "IN ONLY" sticker, you will see a classic "IN" and "DO NOT ENTER" sticker that was previously used at the Real Canadian Superstore located at 2901 8th Street East in Saskatoon. But the best thing is... the door is from Gyro Tech!

When you put the top back on, besides the shutter button, you must make sure the Flashmatic lever goes into it's proper place.

This sign for an 'Automatic Rifle Range' is outside what was for many years called Vern's Amusements on Rhyl Promenade. Owned by the Trehearne family for 50+ years, they appear to have recently sold out to the Parker Leisure Holdings company.
Anyway, this sign must date back to the 1960s - the rifle range has long gone, along with Rhyl's heyday as a seaside resort.

In 2008, a new Shoppers Drug Mart store opened up in Lakewood at Lakewood Common. This was the first store I had seen that used doors from Besam, but it has been the last store that has used them. Since this time, at least two new stores have opened in Saskatoon, but they use doors from Horton Automatics.
Market Mall in Saskatoon used to have two sets of automatic swing doors at its Safeway entrance with both doors opening at the same time as you approached a set. The old sets also had floor mat sensors, which were removed in the late 1990s. Eventually, the opening was reduced to one door per set. The Stanley decals were applied at some point, but decals from Horton Automatics eventually covered up the "OUT" part of the decal. Now, one set has been replaced with a door from Horton Automatics, while the one inside is still from Gyro Tech, which for some reason, no longer works.
