Im Mai 2007 waren die Einsätze der Erstserien 1042-er schon rar gesäht. Daher habe ich mich gefreut, als zum Tagesabschluss eines Ausfluges an die Pyhrnbahn die mit Scherenstromabnehmern ausgerüstete 1042.013 mit dem Autotransportzug G 48953 nach Graz aus Windischgarsten ausfahrend weiter gen Spital am Pyhrn fuhr und von mir bei Pieglmoos im Abendlicht fotografiert werden konnte. Bemerkenswert auch der Zug, bestehend aus den bunten Car Rail Logistics Waggons, die dieser Leistung zu seinem Spitznamen "Zirkuszug" verhalfen. Die 1042.013 stand dann noch bis 2011 in den Diensten der ÖBB. Anschließend wurde sie in die Schweiz verkauft, wurde meines Wissens dort aber nur als Ersatzteilspender genutzt und im Jahre 2021 letztlich verschrottet. Auch den Waggons stand keine lange Zukunft bevor. Dies blieb mein einziges Bild davon, in den Jahren danach sah man sie auf diversen Abstellgleisen entlang deutscher Bahnstrecken vergammeln. Was der Grund für die kurze Nutzungsdauer dieses Typs war, ist mir bis heute ein Rätsel.

 

In May 2007, the first series of 1042 locomotives were already a rare sight. So I was delighted when, at the end of a day trip to the Pyhrn Railway, the 1042.013, left Windischgarsten for Graz with the G 48953 car transport train and continued on to Spital am Pyhrn, where I was able to photograph it in the evening light at Pieglmoos. Also noteworthy was the train consisting of colourful Car Rail Logistics wagons, which earned this service its nickname ‘circus train’. The 1042.013 remained in service with ÖBB until 2011. It was then sold to Switzerland, but to my knowledge was only used there as a source of spare parts and was finally scrapped in 2021. The carriages did not have a long future either. This remained my only picture of them; in the years that followed, they were seen rotting away on various sidings along German railway lines. The reason for the short service life of this type remains a mystery to me to this day.

This company names their trucks after various types of foxes, in this case the Desert Fox.

 

Truck bought used in may 2013. Two photos uploaded, one showing the early, unfinished livery shortly after the takeover, and the other one oresenting the finished result. This is the early version, the nickname still not applied although the fox-drawing is already in place.

 

Going down the steep hill leading northeast into Aarhus. The motorway ends by Åhavevej in Viby. From here, the trucks can continue straight on to Marselis Boulevard across Skanderborgvej before ending at the port of Aarhus, 6 km from here.

Ryder once had almost 1000 Delavan 2800 series rigs. However, only a few used GMC Astro chassis like this. These were called "11-car" trucks but only eight full-size Oldsmobiles fit on this one. Tag axle.

Idaho, 1988. Ten-car Delavan, 65 foot stinger. Ryder ran hundreds of these at the time. (M&G, Complete, CCI, JATCO)

These were again 1986 model trucks with Cottrell 2-car headracks. The trailer is an old Bankhead that was reconfigured and rebuilt by Cottrell.

I shot this in 1988 at Long Beach, CA. PMT had recently been taken over by Jack Cooper Transports and the trucks renumbered. In the mid-1970's, when these rigs were new, they hauled out of GM's Calif plants.

Back of the photo says, "On the way to Tahoe, May 1988". Seland Auto Transport.

Elkton, MD, 1986. Dixie transport with a backhaul of BMWs. These trucks hauled Nissans out of the Nissan plant in TN. Bumper sticker says," If you don't like Hank Williams, you can kiss my ass."

Demstrup Scania fully dedicated to the sole task of hauling for Aalborg Portland (concrete), to such a degree, that the tractor completely deviates from the standard Demstrup livery to create a perfect match for the O.ME.P.S trailer.

 

Going up the steep hill leading sw out of Aarhus past Viby and Stautrup. Underpowered and/or heavily loaded trucks often struggle here.

Renault Alliance and Encore bodies this trip. The old IH looks like it's seen some battles in it's more than twenty years of service.

2001 entstand bei der Firma MIKA GmbH in Mölln ein Unikat, das einen ebenfalls einmaligen Autotransporter von 1954 nachempfindet. Der „Blaues Wunder“ genannte Wagen mit Stilelementen von Mercedes-SL-Sportwagen hatte damals Rennwagen vom Typ W 196 und 300 SLR auf seiner Ladefläche. Nach dem Rückzug aus dem Motorsport 1955 wurde das bis zu 170 km/h schnelle Fahrzeug nicht mehr benötigt und schließlich 1967 verschrottet. Bei der Geburtstagsfeier zum 100-jährigen Markenjubiläum von Mercedes-Benz 2001 stellte das Unternehmen den Nachbau vor. Eine weitere Nachbildung befindet sich im Besitz von Jay Leno

RoRo LKW Transporter mit Mercedes Trucks auf dem Rhein

This five car autotransporter was designed by Brooks Stevens Associates for the La Crosse Trailer Corporation, Wisconsin USA.

 

It had a hydraulic lift, making it possible for one man to operate the carrier.

 

I do not know the date of this rig but judging from the cars carried ,it is probably from the early 1950's.
