Minolta Autofocus Freedom II

Fujifilm Superia X-tra 400

I don't know why I even keep trying these except that maybe 1 in 26,000 turn out and I'm a dang optimist.

Here is another transitional camera as the age of autofocus SLRs approaches. Much like the Pentax ME-F this integrates focus-detect sensors into the camera body; but these merely serve to offer "focus confirmation" with conventional OM lenses. It is only with one dedicated 35-70mm AF zoom (powered by its own 3xAA battery pack) that powered autofocus is possible. (Not yet available as of this publishing date.)

The OM-F was the OM 30 outside North America. Like the OM-G manual shutter speeds are possible, but here moved onto a small slider alongside the lensmount, where they look like a bit of an afterthought.

This was shot with a Nikon D7100 and a Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED Autofocus Lens .....No post processing

Test shots with some new Polaroid 600 film in a Polaroid Sun Autofocus 660

Weird phenomenon today. A number of my shots of the white seagulls had a pink/purple tint on the edge of their wings - similar to chromatic aberration but wasn't easily fixed. Perhaps metering mode? Lens issue? Not a clue. Any suggestions??

Example posted below.

Autofocus 35mm compact with 35mm f3.5 lens, auto exposure with DX (and manual setting, 100 to 1000ASA, but not including 800) for film speed, and motor drive. Popup flash. Runs on two AA batteries. Dates to c.1984 and made in Japan.

Slightly yucky colour scheme with the green background. I was going for quick-and-dirty, using the on-camera flash with very little processing except to crop and reduce the size. Perhaps I should have cleaned a bit of the dust out of the crannies first though.

The cheap-and-nastiest most plasticky Pentax I've ever used. Autofocus, motor drive and auto-exposure, no adjustments except a 100/200 - 400 ISO switch in the base and the flash switch. Sliding the lens cover switches it on or off. Powered by two AA batteries.

The Avro Lancaster is the most famous and successful RAF heavy bomber of World War Two. At the moment, there are only two airworthy Lancasters left in the world - 7,377 were built.

Lancaster PA474 was built at Vickers Armstrong Broughton factory at Hawarden, near Chester, on 31st May 1945, just after VE Day. The war in the Far East ended before she was deployed and she did not take part in any hostilities.

I was playing around with a new(old) macro lens I picked up and was testing its portrait capabilities on my poor old dog since my wife would have no part in it. He is getting hard of hearing but for him there's no mistaking the squirrel sound I make that gets his attention for this shot. He will be 15 years old in May... As for the lens, it sounds like it has a cordless screwdriver motor for autofocus but the images are amazing. Can't wait to try some close up stuff.

Pentax SFX slr manual

One of the first autofocus 35mm SLRs was the Olympus OM-F. This isn't it. But if you take this OM-G and add one of the Vivitar SCAF (Self-Contained Auto Focus) zoom lenses to it, you have practically the same thing. The Vivitar SCAFs came as a 28-70 and a 75-200 zoom (there was also a 200mm tele, as I recall), and they are very respectable, if rather bulky and slow focusing, lenses.

The first generation of auto focus in SLRs began with the Pentax ME-F late in 1981. Within a year, similar models followed from Ricoh and Olympus, creatively named XR-F and OM-F. These had focus sensors in the camera body, but a limited choice of motorized lenses. They were rendered obsolete by the fully integrated auto focus system of the Minolta Maxxum 7000 that appeared in 1985.

Cool autofocus camera with manual wind and rewind. Various BeFunky effects.

Eye autofocus test with the Sony A1 and the Sony 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 lens. No other redeeming value to these shots, other than just to see how well the eye was maintained in focus. I had the camera at the lowest burst speed, and it took about 22 shots in about 20 seconds. All these are full frame images, scaled down for uploading to Flickr (i.e., not crops).

I had high hopes for this one, but the AF gave up on me. Shot with a 0.99 GBP Canon Sure Shot Supreme (US: Top Shot) on Konica 200VX (expired 2010). Once again I am pleasantly surprised by the lenses of those hugely underrated Canon P&S cameras that dominated the market but somehow seem to be the connoiseur's underdogs, in the shadow of the mjus, the Yashicas, the Big Minis etc. Good sharpness, contrast and excellent colour rendition (even on expired Konica consumer film which I consider quite bland in this respect). Reviews for this particular model were a mixed bag, but it's one of my favorites now.

Autofocus multizones Enjoy !

Autofocus, like luck, has its limits. Fortunately, one of them seems to work on a regular basis.

When we walked through a pulpwood stand between two fields, the hawk followed right along. I got plenty of pictures with her sitting in the trees waiting for her handler. Catching her in flight was a little tougher. Here I got really lucky. She’s in decent focus and her jesses are hidden by her wing.
