Autofocus spot on this time !
The Avro Lancaster is the most famous and successful RAF heavy bomber of World War Two. At the moment, there are only two airworthy Lancasters left in the world - 7,377 were built.
Lancaster PA474 was built at Vickers Armstrong Broughton factory at Hawarden, near Chester, on 31st May 1945, just after VE Day. The war in the Far East ended before she was deployed and she did not take part in any hostilities.

One of the first autofocus 35mm SLRs was the Olympus OM-F. This isn't it. But if you take this OM-G and add one of the Vivitar SCAF (Self-Contained Auto Focus) zoom lenses to it, you have practically the same thing. The Vivitar SCAFs came as a 28-70 and a 75-200 zoom (there was also a 200mm tele, as I recall), and they are very respectable, if rather bulky and slow focusing, lenses.
The first generation of auto focus in SLRs began with the Pentax ME-F late in 1981. Within a year, similar models followed from Ricoh and Olympus, creatively named XR-F and OM-F. These had focus sensors in the camera body, but a limited choice of motorized lenses. They were rendered obsolete by the fully integrated auto focus system of the Minolta Maxxum 7000 that appeared in 1985.

Eye autofocus test with the Sony A1 and the Sony 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 lens. No other redeeming value to these shots, other than just to see how well the eye was maintained in focus. I had the camera at the lowest burst speed, and it took about 22 shots in about 20 seconds. All these are full frame images, scaled down for uploading to Flickr (i.e., not crops).

I had high hopes for this one, but the AF gave up on me. Shot with a 0.99 GBP Canon Sure Shot Supreme (US: Top Shot) on Konica 200VX (expired 2010). Once again I am pleasantly surprised by the lenses of those hugely underrated Canon P&S cameras that dominated the market but somehow seem to be the connoiseur's underdogs, in the shadow of the mjus, the Yashicas, the Big Minis etc. Good sharpness, contrast and excellent colour rendition (even on expired Konica consumer film which I consider quite bland in this respect). Reviews for this particular model were a mixed bag, but it's one of my favorites now.
Autofocus, like luck, has its limits. Fortunately, one of them seems to work on a regular basis.
When we walked through a pulpwood stand between two fields, the hawk followed right along. I got plenty of pictures with her sitting in the trees waiting for her handler. Catching her in flight was a little tougher. Here I got really lucky. She’s in decent focus and her jesses are hidden by her wing.

Showmen's Rest in Forest Park, Illinois, is a section of Woodlawn Cemetery for circus performers owned by the Showmen's League of America. The first show workers that were buried there in a mass grave were killed in the Hammond circus train wreck on June 22, 1918, at Hessville, Indiana when an empty Michigan Central Railroad troop train plowed into their circus train. The engineer of the troop train, Alonzo Sargent, had fallen asleep. Among the dead were Arthur Dierckx and Max Nietzborn of the "Great Dierckx Brothers" strong man act and Jennie Ward Todd of "The Flying Wards".
The Showmen's League of America was formed in 1913 with Buffalo Bill Cody as its first president. The identity of many victims of the wreck was unknown and most of the markers note "unidentified male" (or female). One is marked "Smiley," another "Baldy," and "4 Horse Driver."

It was cloudy and the light was nice and even lighting, so I brought out the SX-70, and my tele lens for a brunch and a walk to the farmer's market.
I met this great older lady that had the best sunglasses and two little dogs sitting on bench at the farmers market. She was amazing, 88 and full of life, and I just loved everything about her. I politely asked her if I could take her portrait and she obliged. We talked to her and her daughter for a little bit and had a great time chatting.
What a nice surprise to see the sun this morning after all these snow storms lately, although it was still -22 C
Please see the camera-wiki article on the Nikon N4004 (the F-401 outside North America). This is the second wave of Nikon SLRs with integrated autofocus drive, adopting a "swoopier" body design than the N2020. It also joins Pentax in having built-in TTL flash.
Nikon's F3AF had been their first stab at autofocus, handicapped as that only worked with two specific telephotos containing motor modules.

I set my 7D with the 100mm 2.8L lens up on a small tripod 3m away from my laptop display of the Moire test pattern shown here. I took photos to try and see if the auto-focus on the 7D was accurate. My preliminary view is that it probably is, though I'm not sure if the image is a sharp as it should be... This one was taken with Live View running but on a 2-sec delay with Auto-focus and Image Stabilisation both ON.
One of the first shots on my new Nikon with the Nikkor 50mm AF-D. I'm very impressed with the autofocus on this camera, black cats are tough to shoot and the camera got it right even at f1.8
