Aurora like phenomenon known as STEVE (Strong Thermal Emission Velocity Enhancement). It is caused by a 25 km wide ribbon of hot plasma at an altitude of 450 km, with a temperature of 3,000 °C. Very different from Aurora Borealis. This 30 second exposure at F:1.4 shows the green "picket fence" aurora which doesn't always show up with the pink ribbon STEVE. Southern BC, Canada
I don't know that I have ever seen northern lights move in opposing streams in this manner, like a giant circulation. Completely new to me.
One of the advantages of living in more northern latitudes.
Took this during a couple hours of watching the dazzling atmospheric display.

Was ready to call it after a couple hours. Tripod collapsed, camera on my neck, struggling with my backpack only to take one last look as I got to my truck and there she was. Finally. 8 minutes of shooting and realized at 7 and a half minutes I had moved my focus ring when I was heading out.
Whatever lol
