The May 8th. 2016 Aurora Borealis sure did deliver. In this shot I spent extra time processing to demonstrate the true color and saturation of the Aurora. A lot of photographers (including myself) tend to over saturate and exaggerate the color. Each to his/her own, but it is nice to honor nature once and a while.
Aurora in Lofoten, taken on the first day on my 5 day trip in Lofoten. The aurora was so strong that it got burned on the picture.

A bright aurora illuminated the sky. Together with the moon, they lit up the mountains and the frozen river. This is in Troms, Norway. A wonderful place with beautiful mountains. A lucky night.
When you get good aurora conditions like last Sunday you have to make the most of it and that I did!!
I have a number of good shots from that night and will be posting them in the following weeks.

A photo taken on the last day of March 2024 captures a spectacular night with vibrant lights of various colors illuminating the mountains of Reine, Norway
we could see the aurora building .....but to the human eye we saw a green misty band with smiggin of pink ....BUT to the camera eye it was a different world.....

I was playing with a flashlight the last time I was out shooting aurora along the Red Deer River north of Sundre, Alberta, creating a bit of a ghosting effect. The forecast for aurora is really strong tonight - unfortunately so is the forecast for cloud. Let's hope for some holes in the sky!
SIDE NOTE: I just noticed that my photo stream cracked 4 million visits in the last day or so. Thanks for all your views and comments.
One of the many highlights of the second last night of April 2014. This shot is SOOC and the colour is accurate. The Chorus of Frogs was the background music for this wonderful roadside stop. Thanks to our crew, Driver Brett and Navigator Brad we achieved our mission!

A few nights ago we had the best aurora display I've seen in a long time! I'm glad I checked outside, even though I didn't expect any auroras. I quickly grabbed my camera and drove to the nearest location without lights.
L is your friend!
Explored!! Thank you so much everyone!
Last winter, we saw there might be a decent chance to see the aurora borealis on New Year's Eve. We decided to go to Peyto Lake since I had always dreamed of shooting a dynamic aurora from this spot. Well, the aurora did come out, but it was rather faint. A partial moon also came out and lit the top part of the peaks. Even though it wasn't the epic shot I had hoped for, we still had a fun evening out in the cold.
