7 August 2017. Renk: A mother with her baby waits to be vaccinated at the Medair clinic in Abayok camp for displaced people (IDP) in Renk, South Sudan.
Renk has been at high risk of conflict related displacement since the beginning of the conflict in 2013. The region is currently hosting three main camps for displaced population: Abayok (5,000 residents) and Wunthau (2,000) were conceived as transit sites but they have endured as the returnees have not been able or willing to return to their areas for origin; and Payuer is home to nearly 2,000 IDPs who fled the shelling in Jodha last year.

Business, civic and community leaders take to the links at Prestonwood Country Club for the 6th Annual EDM4USTROOPS.COM Golf Tournament, June 5, 2017. The event began with the posting of the nation’s Colors by North Carolina National Guard’s Tarheel Challenge Academy cadets. Dignitaries including Marine Sgt. John Rice, an Iraq war veteran, took honorary first drives. Also, a putting challenge as more than a hundred competitors circled the practice green and after a countdown tried to sink the ceremonial first putt. The event sponsored by EDM, an international information management services company, raised money for multiple veteran causes and service organizations including the Soldiers and Airmen Assistance Fund (SAAF), a 501c.3. non-profit charitable organization supporting the needs of our citizen soldiers in North Carolina. “It is an exciting event for a great cause,” said Tony Mabini, tour director at Prestonwood. This picture was sent on to the WSPA emergency relief team, by a photographer who is in Haiti, who said "While taking pictures of the devastation in Haiti, I saw this group of children - camped on the pavement with no home to go back to, they represent the harsh reality that Haitians are faced with. But as the dog cheekily forced his way into the frame, the children burst out laughing - and I realized how these simple pleasures are part of their reality too!"
The Government of Haiti has requested immediate assistance from the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) to help with the emergency relief operation. WSPA and the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) are leading a group of animal welfare organizations called the Animal Relief Coalition for Haiti (ARCH) and will arrive in Haiti to do an assessment on January 23.

The foot-well of my desk. To better assist my assistants, I put a yoga mat down for them to lay on. Every now and then, some tail hair gets stuck under the wheel of my chair, but for the most part, we all fit.
Now, if only they knew how to send email....

Mondial Assistance Belgium participated at the 7th BTExpo B2B travel show in Brussels on 8-9 December. As well as being an exhibitor, we brought along our own 'How can we help?' superhero who zoomed around the expo, handing out flyers with our helpline telephone number and inviting people to participate in activities at our booth. It should not come as a surprise that Mondial Assistance was awarded the Most Attractive stand by national travel website Pagtour.
