The first challenge on the Springer Mountain approach trail was getting from the Reflecting Pool to the top of Amicalola Falls.
You go up one long flight, walk a short way on a mostly level path, then start up again. Several of the turnarounds had larger platforms for taking breaks and photographs.
(It appears that my Cinestill developer had had too many rolls of film developed with it. Both this and the previous roll were significantly under-developed. Cinestill one-step developer has its advantages, but I plan to go back to my Kodak D76.)

Some kind of double exposure but there must be more to it. I just don't know how I managed to muck this up. It wasn't intentional.
My plan was to shot a film of low ISO black and white film because that's what the Argus is designed to do and using any other kind of film is not a fair test.

Two trees by Eastman Lake..
Drove down to Durand Eastman Park on a sunny afternoon last week. I was shooting that roll at ISO 800, so I used a red filter to drop it to ASA 100. I figured it was a sunny-16 day so I see the exposure at f/16 for 1/100. The sunny-16 was rather optimistic; the negatives were fairly light, though they scanned well enough.

This last shot is a recovery job at best on a badly overexposed negative, but it serves to show how the new bridge is set back a little further from the falls and and arches overhead rather than marching through the middle.

At the edge of the meadow.
I'm not sure why this spot fascinates me, but I keep wandering over to the edge of the meadow at Dublin Corners Farm Brewery.
A while back, @timebombtimmy (dA) / @eighty4grain (IG) gave me some long-expired Polaroid PolaPan instant black and white slide film to shoot for a commemorative project he is working on. I shot this roll in a variety of places last summer.
Tim developed the roll and sent me back the slide. It seems the chemicals had dried out somewhat, leaving assorted interesting artifacts on the slides.

More macro fun from the weekend, this time a close of my Argus C3 rangefinder which is often known from the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets film
Looking out.
It was a Wednesday as I remember. Dublin Corners Brewer was closed so after my hike I stopped at their taproom in Geneseo. First time there for me.

The door itself is steel, modern, and decorated with graffiti. The triangle made of bricks above the door is an artifact from the past. This road always was an alley, so probably from the very start, this was a fancy door considering the environment.
The Adirondack Daily Enterprise tells me that the building dates from 1905. M. B. Norman operated the store initially, followed by his family until 2015. The place has been vacant since.
Dreams and paddles.
Unplanned double exposure that worked. I had turned around and was heading back downstream. I figured I had gone far enough for the first time out. The temperature was in the upper 80sF.

Another day, another hike. I followed the Letchworth east rim trail past the Middle and Upper Falls. Just upriver from the Upper Falls is railroad bridge across the gorge. This portion of the rim trail is part of the Letchworth branch of the Finger Lakes Trail that runs east-west across upstate New York.
A significant chunk of the east rim trail between where I started on the park road and the railroad bridge was lost some decades ago when that part of the gorge wall collapsed into the valley below. The unofficial detour winds up and around the collapse area until it can pick up the old route a few hundred yards before the bridge. It can be tricky walking with a pack. The newer and official FLT detour follows the park round, a gravel public road, and a gravel and old dirt road until it can rejoin the original trail. From there one can continue southbound or backtrack along the rim trail to the railroad bridge. This detour avoids the nasty highway roadwalk followed by an earlier official detour.
I followed the unofficial detour south past the bridge then back up and around along the rerouted official detour. The public road begins where the detour crosses the railroad east of the bridge. Photographs were called for.

On the creek with Phoenix 200.
Phoenix 200 is a new, experimental film from Harmon Technology (Ilford). I've heard enough praise and panning of it that I bought some to try out for myself. It's interesting stuff. I had Scott's Photo develop and scan it. I Then I scanned the negatives myself for comparison. My scanner software was not at all sure what to do with it. It took some finagling. In both cases it comes out heavy on the greens. Tonal range is not wonderful.
I have a roll from the Ondu 135 Pinhole Camera waiting to be developed. We shall see.

Ghosts of war.
I wish I could say this double was planned.
Back in October I loaded a roll of long-expired Kodak Gold 200 in the old-but-not-expired Argus C3 with the 35mm lens and went for a walk through the neighborhood and down to Durand Eastman Park. The colors came out intense, but it was that sort of day.

Pictober 2021 day twenty-eight - sign
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.
It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
It rises at one end of the heavens
and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is deprived of its warmth.

The first trip with my Dad's new 1966 VW bus. My brother Kevin and I are tiring our slingshots. My Mom can be seen in the rear window if you look at it on big.
We are on the road to Masonic a ghost town not far from Bodie. The suspension was so stiff my Dad had Kevin and I sit in the rear over the tire so it would make contact with the road.
