Proof that Tony Stark has a heart <3. I had a lot of fun designing this Arc Reactor from the first Iron Man. It was difficult to get it to light up correctly as you can see in the darkened pic, but overall the result was not too bad, and most importantly I had fun making it.

The Arc de Avalonia was built shortly after the demon war ended in order to honor all those who fought against the overwhelming horde that reduced so much of the continent to ash. Built to resemble an iconic Gallic monument that was leveled alongside the rest of the Franco capital city it was located in, the famous structure has now been recreated in the Avalonian Union's capital of Bruxelles.
(creator's note: this was built for the group Divide and Conquer 8. Any resemblance to the arc de triomphe is entirely not a coincidence.)
The first, wooden, triumphal arch was built hurriedly, after Romania gained its independence (1878), so that the victorious troops could march under it. Another arch with concrete skeleton and plaster exterior of elaborate sculptures and decoration designed by Petre Antonescu was built on the same site after World War I in 1922. The arch exterior, which had seriously decayed, was replaced in 1935 by the current much more sober Neoclassical design, more closely modelled in the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. The new arch, also designed by Petre Antonescu and executed in stone, was inaugurated on 1 December 1936.
Near that moment when the welding process began...the Arc creates some interesting stuff, shot this at a recent work demonstration. Even work can be creative

There's not many LEGO renditions of this ship on the internet so I thought I'd try my had at one.
I had been working on this for a month or so before I saw Caleb Rick's version on Flickr. It definitely inspired me to re-work a few areas, but I tried to stick with my original vision as much as I could.
This is one of my favourite Star Wars vehicles, it's a shame it's so under-represented in LEGO!
Met Horatio and his GoPro on the top of the arc de triomphe, paris, france.

I was shocked at the fact that it took seven whole steps to put together the ARC Trooper minifig. Just imagine how long it would take a real ARC Trooper to put on all that gear. "ARC" must stand for "Accessory Rich Clown".
Not to say that I minded the time it took to assemble such a magnificent fig, so keep up the great work, Lego!

Otherwise known as a mercury-arc-valve or mercury-vapour-rectifier. This spectacular device converts a high alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC). A cold-cathode gas filled tube. The cathode is a self restoring pool of liquid mercury. Once common, this example is located at Kempton Park Pumping Station, Hanworth, Middlesex UK. Now a steam museum. kemptonsteam.org/

From the top of the panoramic terrace, your eyes sweep over the whole of Paris.
Architect Jean-François Chalgrin was inspired by the Roman Arch of Titus in a single arch, but went beyond it by exceptional dimensions and abandoning columns.
A key place of major national events and wanted by Napoleon in 1806, the Arc de Triomphe was inaugurated in 1836 by French king, Louis-Philippe, who dedicated it to the armies of the Revolution and the Empire.
The Unknown Soldier was buried at the base of the arch in 1921 and The flame of remembrance is rekindled every day at 18:30.

Eye protection, Who needs it --
Certain types of UV radiation can produce an injury to the surface and mucous membrane (conjunctiva) of the eye called "arc eye," "welders' eye" or "arc flash." These names are common names for "conjunctivitis" - an inflammation of the mucous membrane of the front of the eye. The symptoms include:
pain - ranging from a mild feeling of pressure in the eyes to intense pain in severe instances
tearing and reddening of the eye and membranes around the eye (bloodshot)
sensation of "sand in the eye"
abnormal sensitivity to light
inability to look at light sources (photophobia)
The amount of time required to cause these effects depends on several factors such as the intensity of the radiation, the distance from the welding arc, the angle at which the radiation enters the eye, and type of eye protection that the welder or bystander is using. However, exposure to just a few seconds of intense UV light can cause arc eye. These symptoms may not be felt until several hours after exposure.
