This picture was taken just outside Karlskrona, Blekinge, Sweden. This jetty is actually used during summer by boats avidly used by the tourists visiting the area.
On the ferry from Stockholm to Riga. Nice clean sky, and I couldn't help myself for try a long exposure.
Archipelago Brewery is back in business! I finally got the chance to see the new brewery...and it's very shiny. Beautiful facility.
Archipelago Brewery Company was first established in Singapore in 1931 by German brewery Beck’s. In 1939 the brewery was seized by the British government as an asset of war. In 1941, after realizing they didn’t know how to run a brewery, England sold the brewery to Malayan Breweries, which today is Asia Pacific Breweries.
Malayan Breweries then built a new brewery in the 50’s and shifted production to the new, larger brewery, leaving the smaller brewery seldom-used.
Asia Pacific Brewing decided a couple years ago that Archipelago should be revived, using the fusion between asian cooking and european brewing to showcase the new beers.
Follow the adventures of our intrepid brewer here.
The Stockholm archipelago is the largest archipelago in Sweden, and the second-largest archipelago in the Baltic Sea. The archipelago extends from Stockholm roughly 60 kilometres (37 mi) to the east. Today the archipelago is a popular holiday destination with some 50,000 holiday cottages (owned mainly by Stockholmers). Boating is an extremely popular activity.

this ring is a map, and you are the captain. it pinpoints the path, wending through crystalline tropical waters, sand, coral forests. coconuts cluster in the trees, shafts of sun filter through the ocean, pillars amongst sea turtles making their slow way upstream.
this archipelago is a salty cluster, harbor to a chest of gold, an archaic mint tangled with pearls. your compass, your astrolabe, your scrolls of charted stars, deciphers all, lead you to your fortune at last....

Tiputa is the main pass used by big ships to enter Rangiroa lagoon, the second largest atoll in the world. We entered this morning at 11:20 on july 02, 2006 and then had a chance to go ashore. The village of Tiputa (250 inhabitants) is a very quiet and laid back place where Internet, blackberry and other"great" gadgets have not arrived yet... There is something indecent to upload these images via immarsat on board the MV Paul Gauguin from Regent cruises where I am on board, just for the week end to join Heidy, my wife who is an archeology and anthropology lecturer on board.I was looking for new KAP Targets and found a few. I had never tried Kite Aerial Photography from the rear of a cruise ship and could not imagine the influence of the thermics from the cheminey.
All the images were made from a remote cameria supsnded on a kite.
On this image you can realky see the "pass"

Sandön is a beautiful little island in the Stockholm Archipelago, just a 50 minute boat ride from the city. It has bare cliffs, tiny sandy beaches (sandy shores are very rare in the Stockholm area) and a wonderful quaint little town with traditional housing. It was a lovely day! I have uploaded a high resolution so please enjoy the slideshow of 11 photos or the original size!

Zooming in on the island Yttre Gården where you can see a few houses and two windsurfers. The island is popular with sunbathers because of the many beaches.

ISS022-E-024940 (13 Jan. 2010) --- Man-made archipelagos near Dubai, United Arab Emirates are featured in this image photographed by an Expedition 22 crew member on the International Space Station. The municipality of Dubai is the largest city of the Persian Gulf emirate of the same name, and has built a global reputation for large-scale developments and architectural works. Among the most visible of these developments -- particularly from the perspective of astronauts onboard the ISS -- are three man-made archipelagos. The two Palm Islands (Palm Jumeirah and Palm Jebel Ali) appear as stylized palm trees when viewed from above. The World Islands evoke a rough map of the world from an air- or space-borne perspective. Palm Jumeirah and the World Islands are highlighted in this view. Palm Jumeirah (lower left) was begun in 2001 and required more than 50 million cubic meters of dredged sand to raise the islands above the Persian Gulf sea level. Construction of the Palm Jumeirah islands was completed in 2006; they are now being developed for residential and commercial housing and infrastructure. Creation of the 300 World Islands (upper right) was begun in 2003 and completed in 2008, using 320 million cubic meters of sand and 37 million tons of rock for the surrounding 27 kilometer-long protective breakwater. Also visible at the lower edge of the image is another notable built structure -- the Burj Tower (white rectangle at lower right and inset image). The Burj Tower -- or Burj Khalifa -- stands 800 meters high, and is currently the world's tallest structure. The photograph captures enough detail to make out the tapering outline of the building as well as its dark needle-like shadow pointing towards the northeast.
