We had a very worth chase of the local headed for the mill at Harrison. Taken from the highway as they approach Sappington. The Milwaukee Road at one time ran through this same valley.
It would be necessary for this manifest to wait for a remote job to clear up before heading into the ex Rio Grande Yard at Roper.
Consecutively numbered QJs 7038 and 7037 slogging towards the Brickworks Viaduct at Er Di on the Jinpeng section of the Jitong Railway. For once the Jinpeng wind was fairly light.

There are a grand total of 29 cities in the United States that begin with the letter Q. So he decided to go with a fun sounding name and located Quartzsite, Arizona with a population of 2400.
Quartzsite's current location was the site of a waterhole from 1863 to the 1880s and was later a stage station, called Tyson's Wells, along the La Paz - Wikenburg Road on Tyson Wash, in what was then Yuma County, in the newly created Arizona Territory. It was about 20 miles from the Colorado River steamboat landing of La Paz and 25 miles from the landing of Erhenburg from 1866. The next stop was 25 miles to the east at Desert Station.
On the flipside of Internation Falls being the Icebox of the Nation, Quartzsite is one of the hottest places in the United States and has recorded temperatures as high as 122 °F or 50.0 °C on July 28, 1995. Rainfall is under 5 inches per year!
Quartzsite is a popular recreational vehicle camping area for winter visitors. The Rubber Tramp Rendezvous, an annual gathering of vandwellers, takes place in January. Gem and mineral shows, swap meet shows are very popular tourist attractions, attracting about 1.5 million people annually.
Joanne's Gum Gallery in Quartzsite is a quirky and unique museum dedicated to gum wrappers collected since the 1940s. The collection, started by Joanne Brunet, features over 4,000 packs of gum displayed in 100 cases inside a small pink building behind her home. The museum operates by appointment only, so visitors should call ahead to ensure access.
Well after midday the sun is starting to get a tad too high as S317/GM27/GM10/S302 approach Dowds Hill a few kms east of Peterborough, South Australia, on their epic journey to New South Wales.

They run from the northwest of Kiyomizu temple to the halfway point of Kiyomizu-zaka approach.
The total length of them is about 400 meters.
They are gentle and narrow sloping roads with flagstones and stone steps.
Along the streets, ther are many souvenir shops, the shops of kiyomizu-ware (a pottery created around Kiyomizu temple), tea houses and Japanese restaurants.
The streets has a Kyoto's unique atmosphere, so there is an endless stream of visitors.
"Ninen-zaka" means "slope of two years", and "San'nen-zaka" means "slope of three years".
It is said that you will die within two years when you fall down on Ninen-zaka and you will die within three years when you fall down on San'nen-zaka.
Please be careful not to fall down here.
Additionary, the different kanji characters of San'nen-zaka (the parenthetic characters above) have a meaning as "slope to pray for a safe delivery".
産寧坂（さんねいざか）は京都市にある坂。三年坂（さんねんざか）とも呼ばれる。 東山の観光地として有名である。狭義には音羽山清水寺の参道である清水坂から北へ石段で降りる坂道をいうが、公式には北に二年坂までの緩い起伏の石畳の道も含む。
二年坂を介して北にある八坂神社、円山公園、高台寺、法観寺（八坂の塔）と南にある清水寺を結んでいるため、観光客が絶えない。沿道は土産物店、陶磁器店、料亭などが並ぶ。文化財保護法に基づき重要伝統的建造物群保存地区として選定されている。幕末の明保野亭事件の舞台である。
「産寧坂」の語源には諸説あり、この坂の上の清水寺にある子安観音へ「お産が寧か（やすらか）でありますように」と祈願するために登る坂であることから「産寧坂」と呼ばれるようになったという説が有力だが、一方で清水寺に参拝した人がこの坂道を通る際に念願を強くし、願いが叶ったあとで観音様への御礼に再度お参りする時に通る坂であることから「再念坂」と呼ぶようになったという説もある。
同名異字の「三年坂」で転ぶと、三年以内に死ぬ。また転べば三年の寿命が縮まると伝記が三年坂通りのある和歌山市で有名であるが、直接関係あるのかは不明である。
若想盡情享受京都風趣，絕不可錯過京都散步小徑的代表－「産寧坂」。小徑上林立著京都料理餐廳、古道具店、京都特產店及充滿古樸氣息的各式精品店，在這46段十分古典的石頭街道上熱鬧而自然，還有莊嚴穩重的古宅邸參雜其中，增加了遊覽産寧坂的樂趣，這個著名的傳統建造物保存地區，也成為歷史古都的另一種風景。
在多條小徑中，「清水坂」是通往清水寺的主要道路；而「産寧坂」則是由山下連接到「清水坂」的街道。順便一提的是，由産寧坂通往圓山公園的街道稱為「二年坡」，通到下河原的則稱為「一念坂」，每條街道皆具有自己的獨特風味。
産寧坂中的「青龍苑」，聚集了醬菜及香的專賣店、咖啡店等，多為代表京都的名店。由於位在京都皇宮的東方，因「掌管東方的四神青龍」而得名。青龍苑佔地6,600平方公尺，本來是幕府時代末期，有志之士群聚的日本料理店「明保野」。園內有日本大正時代初期建設的日本料理店「阪口」以及日式庭園，另外也新建了京町家、數寄屋、登合掌造等日式建築，與日本料理店及日本庭園融為一體，在園內可自由散步，感受古都獨有的靜謐氣息。
「産寧坂」又稱「三年坡」。有關「産寧坂」名稱的由來有許多的說法，如今大多數人的說法，是因該街通往祈求生產平安的廟宇「子安塔」，所以稱産寧坂。「產」意為生產，「寧」意指容易。據說在8世紀(清水寺尚未創建之前)，聖武天皇及光明皇后在此祈求生產順利，在平安生下孝謙天皇後，於泰産寺立下子安塔。從此，子安塔成為孕婦祈求順利生產的塔，民眾虔信不疑。也有一說指坂上田村麻呂於808年(日本大同3年)開闢的街道，因此稱為「三年坡」。
産寧坂歷史悠久，可回溯至日本平安都城之前，以坐落於清水寺、法觀寺及祗園社(八坂神社)等名剎附近的街道為起源。日本江戶時代(1603年~1867年)之後，這些廟宇周邊的街道逐漸形成市區，至今仍可在産寧坂下面看到幾間獨特的居家「京町家」，堪稱京都代表。到了日本明治及大正時代市區擴大，大部分的建物是明治以後所建，逐漸形成今日所見的繁榮景象。

"The Approach:" It was virtually impossible to keep my lens dry while trying to shoot this storm that blew in over the weekend. I have been shooting storms for a long time and am used to how windy it can get, but this time it was so gusty that the rain was blowing hard in every direction. I almost gave up but luckily was able to grab this shot of a large lightning bolt approaching Prescott as the sun began to set.

In Search of Steam charter.
The small town of Georgetown, Idaho can be seen on top of the hill across this little valley. Like many other towns around here, farmland is located right up to the edge of town, and it is common to find barns, hay sheds, and livestock mixed with residential neighborhoods. On the other hand, there isn't much traffic, smog, or noise.

Thanks go out to the Carillion project manager for inviting me on to site. Due to the proximity of the bridge to Exeter Airport a colleague of mine has put in allot of work ‘Safeguarding’ the entire bridge project in accordance with CAA regulations.
The bridge itself was lifted into place on Sunday 13th February after strong winds prevented the lift taking place on Saturday 12th February.
These pictures were taken on Saturday 19th February were the approach fillets were being lifted into position. The M5 was closed for the second weekend in a row and lifting work started around 2000hrs.
The construction of Redhayes Bridge, a landmark pedestrian and cycle bridge spanning the M5, is one of the first steps in the development of the Exeter Science Park infrastructure.
Evolved from a study looking at Green Infrastructure in Exeter and East Devon, the 100 metre single span arch bridge is a key development for the Exeter and East Devon New Growth Point, and marks a massive investment in the future growth of the local economy.
The pedestrian and cycle bridge is an excellent example of how green travel routes can be built into major developments and reduce the need to travel by car. The cycle link provided by the new bridge also connects into Exeter's cycling network, which stretches throughout the city and across the growth area.
Construction is now underway on the bridge, and the project is scheduled for completion in March 2011.
The Redhayes bridge project has been run by Carillion but involved many other parties and contractors; such as Exeter Airport, The Highways Agency, Devon and Cornwall Police, Parsons Brinckerhoff and Sarens.

VIA 907 has just crossed over the Delisle river as VIA 624 approaches Coteau Jct, where the train will leave VIA Rail's Alexandria Sub and continue to Montreal on CN's Kingston Sub.
We were on a bamboo raft on the Khwae Noi as we approached a bend in the river. The flow created a large eddy and the view opened to the nearby forest and mountains beyond. Photographed in Kanchanaburi, Thailand.
I was driving home from work and stopped to take a photo of the clouds. Suddenly the rainbow appeared above the ruined farmhouse and for once I was in the right place at the right time.
