This location is something of a classic on the Moffat, as the Zephyr wraps around the tight curve on the approach to Tunnel 29, the shortest tunnel in the Tunnel District at only 75 feet in length. My dad has a shot of the Rio Grande Zephyr, with DRGW 5771 leading, from roughly this same perspective. Note the slight discoloration in the rock by the final Superliner, This used to be Tunnel 28, but was daylights decades ago due to cave-ins.

Thunderstorm on 10.07.2014 in Hessen(Germany). This day storms came from Northeast. Because of this, the sun was able to illuminate the cell and the foreground from the front and produce a great lighting scene.

An dem Tag zogen Gewitter aus Nordosten. Das sorgte dafür, dass die Zelle und der Vordergrund von der tiefstehenden Sonne von vorne angestrahlt wurde, was eine einzigartige Lichtstimmung erzeugte.

Thought I'd try shooting East instead of West for sunset.. The actual sunset was mediocre, but the reflection of the light on the clouds looking east was very nice.
Table Mountain cableway has been upgraded three times – in 1958, 1974 and, more recently, in 1997, when the cars with revolving floors, called Rotairs, were introduced. Cable cars similar to the ones used at Table Mountain are in use at Titlis in Switzerland and Palm Springs in the United States. The cable cars take visitors up 704m, from the Lower Cable Station at 363m above sea level to the Upper Cable Station at 1 067m above sea level.

Another look at one of the many abandoned buildings at Rosewood Center a psychiatric hospital that closed around 2006 near Owings Mill MD. A lot of security there now so not very easy to get access to unfortunately.

With an RMT strike on this day causing the independent freight lines by-passing Crewe to be closed, trains were passing through the station. The driver of Freightliner Class 70 No. 70016 opens up the power after approach control slowed him to a crawl before taking the junction to Manchester with 4Z20, the 10:30 Southampton MCT – Trafford Park intermodal on 3rd January 2023.
Looking out over the Atlantic ocean to an area called the Western approaches, this shot is from Pendeen lighthouse .
The Western Approaches is an approximately rectangular area of the Atlantic ocean lying immediately to the west of Ireland and parts of Britain. The north and south boundaries are defined by the corresponding extremities of Britain. Wikipedia.

As the last light of day begins to disappear, a handful of passengers gather on the leaf-ridden Claremont platform, the result of harsh winds the previous day, awaiting their westbound train to Los Angeles. Meanwhile, eastbound Metrolink train 336 lurks in the distance, rounding the corner past the intermediate signal at milepost 32 as it races away from the sunset towards San Bernardino.

We found a pride of lion just north of Grootkolk. They are roaring, playing and fighting short after sunrise.

After a long slow climb up the valley 37897 has arrived at Tondu. The train was the 11.15 Pontycymmer to Jersey Marine steel supply.
37897 was built at the Vulcan Foundry and entered traffic 18/07/1963 as D6855. it was renumbered 37155 under TOPS and upon rebuilding it became 37897 12/12/1986. The loco was withdrawn 31/08/2005 and is in preservation.

Built in 1385, Bodiam Castle is a perfect example of a late medieval moated castle and is
one of Britain's most famous and evocative castles.
It is situated beside the River Rother in East Sussex and was built in the late 14th century by a veteran of King Edward III's wars with France, originally as a coastal defence. In 1385, Sir Edward Dalyngrygge was given permission to fortify his house against invasion from France, but then decided to build a new stone castle a short distance away from the house.
What can be seen today is a relatively small, picturesque building that symbolises the movement from traditional medieval castle to comfortable manor house. With an almost square construction, Bodiam Castle has a notable symmetry and is surrounded by a wide moat. The moat was created from an artificial lake which, in turn, originated from allowing the river to flow into a rectangular area of marshy land.

Persistent thunderstorms put us in a holding pattern above Denver until the fuel ran low, so the pilot decided to divert to Grand Junction CO to top up. After which we went to Denver, where the weather had cleared up. That way, a flight that usually takes one hour ended up taking five.

The Virginia & Truckee Railroad's Consolidation #29 slows her speed as she approaches Haywards Siding at Milepost 45.0, with a short, northbound passenger train. Historically, there was an 875 ft. passing siding here to allow north and southbound trains to pass each other and that siding has been recreated with the reconstruction of the present-day railroad. This location is also a spectacular spot from which to photograph trains as it offers a commanding view of the valley to the east.

This is the approach to Baring elevator, the subject of the first image in this series. Aside from the elevator, there is not much to see except the road and the remains of the town on the right. The Baring elevator was built by the Maple Leaf Milling Company in 1909 and it was closed and abandoned in the early 60s when the railway line was closed.

At one time, grain elevators could be found every 8 to 10 miles along every railway line in western Canada. That allowed most farmers to make a round trip to an elevator to deliver and sell their grain with a horse and wagon in one day. From that elevator the grain would be shipped to ports on the Great Lakes or the west coast, across Canada and around the world. Grain elevators started appearing across the Prairies in the late 19th century, and the number of grain elevators peaked in 1938, when there were nearly 6,000 primary (country) elevators in the Prairie provinces. Many factors led to the decline of the primary elevator: the Depression, increased mechanization, improved roads for transportation, rural depopulation, the closing of branch lines of the railway and the buying out or merging of the grain companies and the building of large, concrete grain terminals. In 2023 there were only around 400 country elevators left in Saskatchewan and only about 100 are still in use. Many of the old, wooden elevators have been destroyed – burned down, struck by lightning, demolished - but some of them still remain - weathered but beautiful and stalwart.

Ushuaia is bounded on the north by the Martial mountain range, and on the south by the Beagle Channel. It is the only municipality in the Department of Ushuaia, which has an area of 9,390 km2 (3,625 sq mi). It was founded October 12 of 1884 by Augusto Lasserre . Besides being an administrative center, it is a light industrial port and tourist hub.

I loved the bluey grey of the approaching storm clouds against the yellow of the field. It was a different scene about 30 minutes later with heavy rain, thunder & lightning. I was going to camp, but decided to book a room at the Nindigully Pub. Thallon, Queensland, Australia.
The friendly puffins are tireless fishing. With very fast flight and strong wind, they have to maneuver very quickly to land successfully and bring the prize back to their nest.
