A short advertisement style paper cut out animation.

Animation made on animation course Summer 2017. Made with MAYA and then the cape is drawn ontop with TV paint. This was useful as it allowed me to explore character in my animations and I also got to attempt animating a cape/cloth this will be useful in the future as I am able to see the mistakes I made and how to improve them.

My animation was to based on the idea of a character in free fall, falling onto the screen and then pulling a parachute cord, but then the cord getting stuck and then the character began to put his effort into pulling the cord and after multiple tries the cord would come loose and they move up out of camera.

I'm happy with the final outcome of my character model despite it being simplistic and stylized in design, I do however wish that I had added some extra details to the model that would compliment the animation work; such as me adding an actual parachute to the model as currently it is hard to know that, that is what the character is doing.

During the production of my animation I had a few issues that caused a delays, the biggest of which was that after skinning and paint weighting my character the mesh still deformed whenever the rig was moved. I searched online, asked for help and even re-rigged my model but I didn't manage to find a concrete answer for the issue; the issue resolved itself after I reapplied the paint weights for the fourth time. I later while animating had another issue with my IK handles on the arms they are reversed, so after trying to add a new IK handle I settled for using the original one and then rotating it so I could animate my model the way I needed.

I think that my animation is quaint but its overall story arch is hard to read, there also is a lack of animation in areas of the model that could have been added and really added to the animation in general. If I was to redo this module having now conquered the skinning issue I believe I would be able to create the animation to a better quality.
