I made a little cartoon. Watch it here.
It's for the 48 Hour Film Project in Minneapolis. The actual movie was produced by my pal Mike, and the Free Range Film Players, and shot out in Wrenshall, MN. Mike asked me to animate a little title sequence. So I did this, and threw together some music too. This is just my sequence, which transitions to an opening scene of the movie. There's just a placeholder photo at the end now, I'll post the full movie soon.
For those not familiar with the 48 Hour Film Project, it works like this: each team has to write, shoot, edit and deliver a movie within 48 hours. On Friday night, each team draws a genre, and is told a prop, line of dialogue, and character that has to appear in the movie. The movie has to be given to the judges on Sunday night. Minneapolis had over 80 teams this year, and all the movies are being screened this week at the super-cool Riverview Theater in Minneapolis. It's a really good time if you can make it to the screenings (and vote for our movie). But it sells out, so buy tickets early.

339/365. i'm trying out the role of project manager at Hood Design. my first task: a public art project in Norfolk, VA. it's a "swarming soundscape" that tells the story of the Era of Massive Resistance in Norfolk in the 50's/60's. These short animations illustrate the different types of soundscapes that can be created within the swarm.

Aardman and also the NFTS are providing a rigorous three month Certificate in Character animation studio Malaysia, aimed mainly at graduates and trained by industry professionals at Aardman studios in Bristol. The program is headed up by Loyd Cost, Mind of Animation at Aardman, for the exact purpose of "bridging the space between education and industry" and "enabling students to build up the main practical skills needed to allow them to become competent professional animators and also to create believable figures through acting and gratifactionInch.
What's the deadline?
The applying deadline is 29 June 2015
What's within the Course?
The program will occur at Aardman’s studio in Bristol and will also be trained by practicing Aardman animators who've labored on the majority of productions including Wallace and Gromit, Chicken Run, Flushed Away, The Pirates! and Rob the film. You'll also have additional support using their company industry professionals from both Stop-frame and CG animation disciplines.
Why do just 3 several weeks?
The program is brief but very intensive using the primary aim being to create students with the amount of animation studio Malaysia
skills needed to enable them to get jobs as animators in this particular competitive industry. Although this is no guarantee of future success, up to now over 70% from the students have grown to be animation studio Malaysia inside the industry.
When would be the course dates?
Course dates: 21st September - eleventh December 2015
The number of students can get in?
The program is available to no more than 6 Stop Frame and 6 CG students, using the students employed in either CG (using Maya) or Stop Frame (using Dragon-Frame). Students is going to be trained in small groups to allow maximum contact time with staff along with other visiting tutors. The program is going to be trained in a number of weekly assignments, each concentrating on a vital facet of animation performance. Students is going to be asked to repeat and finesse each assignment throughout the week. The program depends on learning technical and practical skills, supplying a basis which students may become technically proficient animators and therefore assist them to bring their figures to existence. The program is structured to construct from simpler exercises perfectly into a short sequence demonstrating character-based performance, which is animated within scheduled production deadlines.

Last year I volunteered at the Ottawa Animation Festival and they had a pumpkin carving contest....
I used to work in the animation field and came to realize animators are lots of fun and crazy...in a good way... there was always a good laugh once a day.
This was one of the winners!
