this is an animation still of my nose hairs....this is my latest art project...where it's going..well i don't know but i'm on a roll..
2D character animation is no doubt a time-consuming artform. But the result of hardwork and intricate detailing in each stage never fails to really bring dreams to life.
Brian Fidler (ramshackletheatre.com/) and I are developing an animation to tie together the two acts of our show, "Sci-Fi Double Feature." They feature all of the puppet characters from the live show, backstage where the real drama unfolds.
I geo-tagged this on in the village of Bord de Mer, as I was taking a break and sitting on the beach while working on it.
I think a real strong point to this animation is the fluidity of it. There are also nice flicks on the hands throughout the animation which really adds to the fluidity of the ballet. There are moments however when the feet move ever so slightly when they should be stationary. The weight balance it correct throughout which helps create the realism needed in the clip.
The timing could be improved slightly, just before the spin there seems to be too much of a pause. I would also have liked to have a few frames at the beginning and end of the animation were the character is stationary, which will indicate that it is the start and end of the clip, in this he end very abruptly.
The head movement, whilst consistent with the reference clip, looks slightly odd, my feeling is that it is because of the face as there is no animation on the face and it is literally painted on. There were a few issues with the skinning which I sorted out although it is still not perfect and I edited the animation accordingly so it is not as noticeable.
Overall I think that the clip works well. (The video is not a great quality however as I needed to compress it to upload it.)
Here's the first animation I made. Following the storyboard I made I think they are rather accurate to each other. I think it came out well to say it was my first time trying animations.

For Kansas City folks... The background here is N Oak Trafficway, WAY back when it was 2 lanes at the North border of Gladstone and Kansas City (N 77th St.). Probably from when Gladstone was Incorporated in the 1950s.

My stop motion animation is an advert aimed at younger people about mental health and how to maintain good health and cope with bad mental health. It follows a character as she explores how it feels to have bad mental health and the options for help in a way that appeals to the target audience of 15-21 but also above and below the age range. The ad is a minute long to maintain the viewer's attention but include as much information as possible in a positive manner. I created sets and the character from scratch as it is my first stop motion and included narration to keep the advert simple and to the point while also being interesting to watch.
