The first film in our Opera Short series, based on La traviata’s ‘Libiamo ne’ lieti calici’, was created by Ellie Pritchard, Alice Stewart and Luisa Crosbie, students on the Illustration and Animation course at Kingston University.

Animation is the process of making the illusion of motion and the illusion of change[Note 1] by means of the rapid succession of sequential images that minimally differ from each other. The illusion—as in motion pictures in general—is thought to rely on the phi phenomenon and beta movement, but the exact causes are still unclear.
There are some forms of animation that do not feature a rapid succession of sequential images, but these are usually not considered to be "true" or "full" animation. For instance, the physical movement of image parts through simple mechanics in magic lantern slides and the movement of the projector (the magic lantern) in phantasmagoria provided popular moving picture shows.

The Implications of 3D Computer Animation
3D computer animation is making a big impact in the animation industry. Realism is the key for the rising demand of 3D animation. It is a challenging technology for prospective artists and for professional animators alike to develop new editions and versions of the existing 3D animation programs. The frames of the models and the shots are sometimes simple, but the motion or the movements of the characters is where the creativity and skills of the animator comes in.
In 3D computer animation, visual styling is one of the categories that need to be considered. It is not just how the objects being animated are going to look but it also focuses on how the images are going to be rendered, as well as the methods to be used for animation. It is about the complexity of the process.Cinematography is also a vital element of animation since the animators have the power to control the position and the movement of the camera when doing a computer animated picture.

i had some extra time today so i researched how to make an animation in photoshop. i only had about 30 minutes, so this is what i produced! tell me what you think! any tips? i'd love to hear them! i was unaware this function was available in photoshop! so awesome!
