Check out this animated 30 sec intro I did myself myfantastictoys.com/animation.mov

Only an animation playblast test for this simple story animation I am currently working on. Like I mentioned earlier, the bear was originally modeled by Ben Bradi and uv texture layout and concept drawing was done by Alex Solazo, my mates from previous work. I did the rig and this is actually one of my favourite character to rig.

This is a work in progress. I am working with mentoring from ex-Disney animator, thanks Simon & Warren, they helped a lot in term of working out the story better, seeling one idea at a time, building up each character better. Which is very useful for storytelling wisely since I was earlier worry too much about the animation principles etc. I am sure I will come to stage where I have critiques inputs on my animation, but I like this step of developing ths story better before the details.

Please feel free to comment and critique on this mock up animatic. I reckon adding a crow passing by, even very quickly will add to this idea. What do you think?

This is my 2nd FLICKR video (you can see how excited I am), loves that WIDE/PORTRAIT auto-adjusting video format :) Fantastic! Almost good-bye to YouTube. I will try to make something more interesting under 90 seconds (90 seconds is quite long, it is 2250 frames after all). It's gonna be fun!

I got this invite group to say "NO" to video on FLICKR. But to be honest I am actually saying "YES" to video on FLICKR. Of course pros and cons will come up as usual. But if you are using it properly and professionally, why not. You can make the best ot your FLICKR account, right?

This is a little still frame animation I did one night when I was bored

See large size for animation of this caterpilar (about 5mm long) walking on my car.

I did have to cheat a bit with some of the early frames by adding some BG on the RHS to try to keep the view point the same.

Clip 1 Dream Walkers

This videos shows fast and slow motions, which would be good in terms of animating the timing also giving a form of anticipation as we transition from pose to pose . Throughout her movement, our subject seems to demonstrate extreme flexibility and body contortions this would mean that I could reduce the limitations of my model's movement as I rig the model. She also demonstrates great sense of balance through out her routine, whilst showing a very artistic and gestural actions as she moves thus making the animation on it's own to be very interesting. Her movement shows various archs which could be highly exaggerated. Also a squash and stretch could be applied as she shifts her balance from one to the other.

Clip 2 Pulling Action

This reference demonstrates a good use of force as our subject interacts with the string and another character.Although this reference shows more than one subject to model I was thinking of doing the animation in a way where the 2nd subject is outside the camera's view. That way we can sense the presence of another entity even though we cannot see him. Her movement is widely expressive due to the sense of struggle. Exaggerations of her actions are very plausible, also squash and stretch could be applied to the animation to emphasise on the push and pull.

Clip 3 Action Shot

This reference has a very fluid motion for an action shot, we can clearly see how she distributes her mass as she moves.Anticipation would be a crucial in this animation as her movement varies before and after she strikes her target. I see no room for a exaggeration in this animation but maybe slight camera shakes could be applied to show impact .Out of all 3 I think this is the most interesting reference, however it has 2 major problems. One is that it interacts with more than one object, and two the shots may not last 10 seconds.

Short animation of Saturn taken in good seeing on 7/8/10. At the bottom of the planet you can (barely) see the shadow of Mimas transiting. Mimas is just under the ring near the right limb of the planet (can't see it in the pic though)

This animation is the first 2D Animation I created. As an artist response my role was to experiment, develop and complete an original artwork taking inspiration from certain aspects of an artists work. From my previous work within the same project, I knew my result from this artist was going to be some form of animation.

With research I managed to discover Puuung’s (Park Dami) animating process, combining the traditional ideas of hand-drawn cel, with the contemporary use of Adobe Photoshop’s layering and digital painting features to construct her pieces. This is what I eventually used to create my own looping GIF animation, only with the characters and background image entirely hand drawn and painted.

At first I began completing a series studies of Dami’s original characters, wanting to familiarize myself with her style and artistic visual language. Elements such as her use of a warm-toned palette, a composition that contained both negative space and intricate detail and her interesting use of line-work particularly caught my eye. I loved the artists attention to the architectural space that surrounded her figures, so decided to recreate my own environment, while still in the restrictions of the national lock-down.

When it came to creating my own original characters I used the same conceptual element as the artist in deciding to replicate myself and my ideal partner. To do so I had to complete my first character design without any source of reference other than the male anatomy. With myself, I took a short while drawing and sketching my own body to try and capture a sense of the true me within my piece.

From my designs I then deconstructed an existing looping GIF into five key “frames” tracing and transferring before transforming them into my pre-designed characters, this I then created as a loop within Adobe Photoshop.

This animation makes me smile (: I found a smiley- winky face, and a normal smiley face and put the two together. I used the eye dropper to pick out the color in one of the smiley faces to match the other one and used the animation tool, and combined the two, Overall I think this project came out pretty good and i am happy with the out come.
