The Animation Decathlon is a unique interactive arts installation combining cutting edge architectural projections, outdoor video gaming and original sound design in the courtyard of Kensington Town Hall.
The event is the culmination of a year long project working with children and young people across Kensington and Chelsea to create a fantastic series of 2012 - inspired drawings and animations. Click here to find out more about the project
On Saturday 21 March, the animated athletes and crowds they’ve created will be projected metres high onto the Town Hall and surrounding buildings where they will sprint, pole vault and swim across the sides of the buildings transforming the area into an ‘Olympic’ arena.

From my Stop Motion Animation class at MICA. This was a fantastically fun group project. I can't even begin to describe how excellent the experience was.
We built the set together, each made our own characters (mine is Gunther, the bartender), and had a great time shooting and editing. Our teacher, Juliette Marchand, was amazing, and it was a great pleasure working with my classmates, with especial thanks to Harold Brenkus, Anya Ewing (website), and Graham Wilson (website / blog). Thanks guys!
My character, Gunther, hails from the planet Slugulon, and is the bartender and owner of a great little place in outer space, the SPACE BAR, an Intergalactic Liquid and Comestible Consumption Center of Sector 7Z-5, Orbiting the 3rd Moon of Zentrilox 4, the Rogue Planet. And yes, we did enjoy coming up with that background information very much, thank you.
Blogged here and originally here.
So I have worked so, so, so hard on my animation project that i definately thought it was worth a picture. A picture to remind myself of the commitment put into it. A commitment were i put aside: Food shopping! Friday & Saturday Nights out! Sleep!
I have enjoyed it so far and am looking forward to the final outcome!
Right. I'm going for a beer in Shoreditch.

People like to watch the series and movies and some people would try to display them to attract others to subscribe to the channels.
I perform this illegal behaviour in a simple style to tell people not to do that.
During that time, I was fascinated by superheroes, batman, superman, and spider-man, so I adapted the hero element into the creative work.

MICA 2D Character Animation Assignment: Animate a character in an environment consisting of 3 boxes, a board, and a ball. The character uses these items to reach and turn off a fan. Also try to move the camera, maybe with zooming and panning.
I had a lot of fun experimenting with this one. I decided to make a miniature set and to animate my character over it, and I am really happy with the way it turned out.
This is an animation of Daisy, done in the Warhol style and animated. This was done entirely in Gimp! I put the animated version below since several people could not see it.
This is the Animation building on the Walt Disney Studios lot. I was at the studio for a meeting with their distribution folks. Had a great time!

now, onto character design......
This is pretty rough, but I'm excited by this test. It demonstrates a method for doing 8 cell cycle animations with Brushes.
I actually attempted to do a walking cycle, but I'm such a poor animator my first try looked more like a dance. So I went with the flow.
By the way, the music (12th Street Rag) comes from an old cassette of me playing the piano way back in 1973. It seemed to fit the tempo of the video and it was copyright free.
Notes: The man, the woman, and the feet were done in separate Brushes files. I used the same procedure in each. I started with a white background and painted the figure in one stroke. Then I filled with an almost opaque white so I could barely see the figure (like using tracing paper). I then drew the next position of the figure and in the next stroke I used white to erase what was left of the previous frame. Each position required three frames - white, a single stroke drawing, and some erasing with white.
I exported each movie using the Brushes Viewer on my Macbook at 24 fps. This version looked like an old flickery movie because every third frame was white. It was a cool effect, but not what I wanted. So I exported each clean frame out of each movie as a numbered PICT file and made a new movie from the image sequences. I then copied and pasted the cycles to get the length right for each sequence. This was all done in Quicktime Pro along with adding the audio track which I had edited in Audacity and saved as an AIFF file.
