Alongside US Route 26 near Craters of the Moon National Monument, Idaho. Processed with Lightroom, Photoshop and Topaz filters.
Alongside the Columbia on the Washington side, about one mile from Astoria. The muddy flat included a wrecked yacht, which I would liked to have moved in on for closer shots, but didn't think that would work very well with my footwear.
The palace in Jankowice was built at the turn of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, and its reconstruction took place in 1803 on the order of Wawrzyniec Engestrӧm (a Swedish envoy alongside King Stanisław August Poniatowski), who settled in Wielkopolska. The palace was built in the style of romanticism. It is surrounded by a park with an area of 18.6 ha. There is a pond with 4 islands and a rich tree stand with 50 species (limes, plane trees, chestnuts, oaks and others).
The palace and park complex is owned by the Tarnowo Podgórne commune, which carried out a thorough renovation and revitalization of the park in 2018.

Alongside the Swift River and accessible via the Kancamagus Highway, this area attracts a legion of photographers every October. And, yes, the colors are really that bright!

This torrent of water runs next to a secondary road. I am told that a year and a half ago, it washed out that same road. It now drains under it, and is corralled enough to pass by a community, then leading on and out to the ocean.
Rolled bales of hay seen nestled alongside a group of trees on an autumn afternoon at Jim Edgar Panther Creek State Fish and Wildlife Area in Cass County, Illinois. Named for former two-term Illinois Governor Jim Edgar, Panther Creek is one of Illinois' largest public access areas. The 16,550 acre site is a mosaic of mature forest land, agricultural land, grassland and rare hill prairie that is home to a rich assortment of wildlife.

In the forest alongside the little Liffey River in Tasmania - so different from its namesake in Dublin - the gentle flow of the water over this tessellated platform, catches the golden glow of sunlight. Birds can be heard singing in the trees. If you want a place to calm the soul, I can't think of many better than right here.
People who grew up in harmony with the land - people indigenous to it - speak of places like this as having spirit. The spirit of place is not just a catchy phrase, I believe it is the truth of our relationship to the world.
Modernity (and its intellectual motor of rationalism) is really a state of Forgetfulness. We forget because we can't forgive ourselves for losing the Garden of Eden (I'm speaking in the language of mythology here because it has a deep psychological truth). Modernity is a flight from everything that reminds us of this horrible detachment between "the world we have made" and Spirit.
So we spend our lives running from things. We run from God, from Spirit, from real emotions, from Nature itself. Occasionally in places like this we catch a glimpse of what life could have been like, but then we quickly remind ourselves that we are really rational beings and there is nothing at all here to see except material "reality".
But that's the fatal flaw in Materialism, because it cuts us off from the River of Life. Science can tell us approximately how old the world is, and even our universe. But it cannot measure Eternity or even tell us why we are here.
But dangle your feet in this cool water. Literally chill out. Turn off and tune in (and you don't need Timothy Leary's drugs for that). Tune in to the "vibrations" of Spirit. Find yourself in Nature again.

I was a passenger in a dH Dragon Rapide, a 1930's airliner, and for a few glorious minutes had the opportunity to photograph the wonderful 1940s Spitfire. Air to air photography is MUCH easier than ground to air!
Alongside the cicadas, the other harbingers of summer here, in the flora world, are Agapanthus and Lilly Pillys. In our little Close, six out of the eleven houses have agapanthus sprouting everywhere, just like hairs from an old man's ears! I think I'm getting FOMO—of the aggies, not the nose hairs!
The massive Lilly Pilly in our backyard starts flowering big time in summer, attracting thousands of bees. However, this year, despite it being in full bloom, there are no bees, which is a bit disconcerting. We all know how essential bees are to us, the tireless pollinators, supporting the growth of plants, crops, and ecosystems that sustain life on Earth. I hope they show up soon!
And if you're wondering what a Lilly Pilly is, Wikipedia advises that it is a summer-flowering, winter-fruiting evergreen tree, native to Australia and belonging to the myrtle family. This shot is just one of the tiny little flowers of which there are thousands.
Cheers !
Can you see the chap in the back getting a bird's eye view of the crowd? Many Consolidated Catalina type were produced in Canada and were called 'Canso' - this is one such. Image resolution is quite good - you could count the rivets, which is my resolution test!

I was able to capture this image as our car traveled the roads in Iceland. Herding these horses alongside the road seemed to be a family affair for everyone.
A long shot of this elusive little azure kingfisher taken in the heart of Shepparton in Victoria alongside their delightful central lake. I did a rare thing for me in that I digitally "pruned" a little twig off the tree that lay right across the head of the bird. A rough job, but it always bugged me, so I had to do it! ; )
NS 7518 on the point of train LAZLCR 29 cools its heels at CP Main alongside the LA River while waiting for clearance into LATC. The colorful reflection off the rear well cars comes from the numerous signals on both sides of the river including those of Metro’s light rail system.
Not taken in my garden sadly, it’s growing over a garden fence alongside a path where I walk my dogs.
Fourth installment in my brown bird series. This long-billed sandpiper is the largest North American shorebird. It spends the summer on the grasslands of the arid west, appearing on coastal mudflats only in migration and winter, and even then likely to be on prairies instead. It often occurs alongside the Marbled Godwit, which is very similar in size and color pattern; but the godwit's bill curves up, not down.
We found this one along the beach at Packery Channel on Padre Island, Texas.
Also called 'Willey Mill'.
The mill still stands, almost in its original state, at a bend in the Tame some 100yds down stream from Delph Bridge. The mill race still flows beneath the building, and continues alongside and above the river to the Rasping Mill some 250yds downstream.
It was described .. “There was a home in the mill, with living room, parlour and kitchen”

Alongside the Nativity scene is the Vatican's Christmas tree, a 23m-high red fir, following a tradition begun by Pope St John Paul II in 1982.
Hollyhocks are the epitome of cottage garden plants. These stately towers of flowers bloom for a long time in summer in a wide variety of colors. Chances are you’ve seen them alongside a barn, in front of a cute cottage-style house, or gracing.
If there's one defining feature to describe the hollyhock, it's height. With a range of 3 to 8 feet tall, even the short end of the height spectrum is big. When you have a mass planting of these stately beauties in full bloom, it's really quite a show.
Mushroom Rocks alongside the Toll Memorial Trail in Rocky Mountain National Park.
At roughly 12,200' in elevation, there's about 35% less oxygen in the air than at sea level. This is the alpine tundra, which has rich soils and dense sedge/grass turf, which provides food for the few animals that live here year-round - marmots, pikas, ptarmigans. Although this was June 3, there was no frost on the tundra. The summer here is very brief, about 40 days long, and the area spens about 5 months of the yearin temperatures below freezing.
This rock formation is nearly half a mile from the trailhead. The rock to the right of the frame is about 10-12' tall. The panoramic view of the surrounding Rocky Mountains is worth the short hike from the parking lot.
One of the many patches of snow alongside the track I'm following to the summit of Creag nan Gabhar. This one, to me, looks like a white horse.
Creag nan Gabhar translates as Rocky Hill of the Goat and stands at 834 meters. Not high enough to be a Munro but it is a Corbett.
