Winter sun alongside Māwaihākona Stream, Upper Hutt, New Zealand. Almost nothing is left of the Podocarp forest that once carpeted this valley floor from hillside to the other hillside. The trees were cleared by the early settlers in the 1840s and 1850s. However the Friends of Māwaihākona restoration group have since 2011 planted 3.2 hectares with 11,500 young trees (seen on both sides of the stream) that in time will return this section of the valley to its former glory.
This torrent of water runs next to a secondary road. I am told that a year and a half ago, it washed out that same road. It now drains under it, and is corralled enough to pass by a community, then leading on and out to the ocean.
Yes, more geese! But there's not much action on the lake at this time of year - not when I'm looking, anyhow...

Similarly built to Mercat Crosses found across Scotland, the Culross iteration dates back to the 17th century. Though rebuilt in 1902 to preserve its integrity, the cross marks the heart of the town. Its cubical head has four distinctive sides, including the Culross coat of arms, the initials and coat of arms of its restorer, and a monogram for King James VI, alongside a unicorn – Scotland’s national animal.

In the forest alongside the little Liffey River in Tasmania - so different from its namesake in Dublin - the gentle flow of the water over this tessellated platform, catches the golden glow of sunlight. Birds can be heard singing in the trees. If you want a place to calm the soul, I can't think of many better than right here.
People who grew up in harmony with the land - people indigenous to it - speak of places like this as having spirit. The spirit of place is not just a catchy phrase, I believe it is the truth of our relationship to the world.
Modernity (and its intellectual motor of rationalism) is really a state of Forgetfulness. We forget because we can't forgive ourselves for losing the Garden of Eden (I'm speaking in the language of mythology here because it has a deep psychological truth). Modernity is a flight from everything that reminds us of this horrible detachment between "the world we have made" and Spirit.
So we spend our lives running from things. We run from God, from Spirit, from real emotions, from Nature itself. Occasionally in places like this we catch a glimpse of what life could have been like, but then we quickly remind ourselves that we are really rational beings and there is nothing at all here to see except material "reality".
But that's the fatal flaw in Materialism, because it cuts us off from the River of Life. Science can tell us approximately how old the world is, and even our universe. But it cannot measure Eternity or even tell us why we are here.
But dangle your feet in this cool water. Literally chill out. Turn off and tune in (and you don't need Timothy Leary's drugs for that). Tune in to the "vibrations" of Spirit. Find yourself in Nature again.

The palace in Jankowice was built at the turn of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, and its reconstruction took place in 1803 on the order of Wawrzyniec Engestrӧm (a Swedish envoy alongside King Stanisław August Poniatowski), who settled in Wielkopolska. The palace was built in the style of romanticism. It is surrounded by a park with an area of 18.6 ha. There is a pond with 4 islands and a rich tree stand with 50 species (limes, plane trees, chestnuts, oaks and others).
The palace and park complex is owned by the Tarnowo Podgórne commune, which carried out a thorough renovation and revitalization of the park in 2018.

I was a passenger in a dH Dragon Rapide, a 1930's airliner, and for a few glorious minutes had the opportunity to photograph the wonderful 1940s Spitfire. Air to air photography is MUCH easier than ground to air!
Alongside the Gulf, Rothmans and Martini liveries, the John Player Special livery with its iconic black and gold colours is one of those stand out designs I remember from my childhood.
This car, the 1982 Lotus 91/5, deigned by the legendary Colin Chapman, was one of the first to use a blend of carbon fibre and kevlar to give a light yet rigid chassis that could withstand being involved in an accident.
The 91/5 wasn't a particularly successful car, taking only one win in the 1982 season at the Austrian Grand Prix, notable perhaps for being the last win by Lotus before Colin Chapman died.

Alongside the cicadas, the other harbingers of summer here, in the flora world, are Agapanthus and Lilly Pillys. In our little Close, six out of the eleven houses have agapanthus sprouting everywhere, just like hairs from an old man's ears! I think I'm getting FOMO—of the aggies, not the nose hairs!
The massive Lilly Pilly in our backyard starts flowering big time in summer, attracting thousands of bees. However, this year, despite it being in full bloom, there are no bees, which is a bit disconcerting. We all know how essential bees are to us, the tireless pollinators, supporting the growth of plants, crops, and ecosystems that sustain life on Earth. I hope they show up soon!
And if you're wondering what a Lilly Pilly is, Wikipedia advises that it is a summer-flowering, winter-fruiting evergreen tree, native to Australia and belonging to the myrtle family. This shot is just one of the tiny little flowers of which there are thousands.
Cheers !
Can you see the chap in the back getting a bird's eye view of the crowd? Many Consolidated Catalina type were produced in Canada and were called 'Canso' - this is one such. Image resolution is quite good - you could count the rivets, which is my resolution test!

Photographed the juvenile Little Blue Heron searching for prey alongside the Alligator Alley Trail located in the Circle B Bar Reserve in the City of Lakeland in Polk County Florida U.S.A.
The little blue heron is a small heron of the genus Egretta. It is a small, darkly colored heron with a two-toned bill. Juveniles are entirely white, bearing resemblance to the snowy egret. During the breeding season, adults develop different coloration on the head, legs, and feet.
