Lately, when I come home from work this sparrow sits in the same spot on the same wire and calls out his alert, letting all of his avian pals know I'm home.
The humming birds are at the feeders almost continually right now fattening up for the trip down south to start soon. The sun is getting lower in the sky and the days all ready noticeably shorter!
Non-native to Britain, Sika deer visit daily to the small woodland across from our kitchen door. They're not bothered by humans. However, they are very alert to any dog approaching whilst being walked by their owner, as is the case here. Apart from their alarm call, you can see the deer is also stomping a hind leg which is a classic sign of being alert and noting potential danger.
Another cute little Eastern Waterdragon soaking up the sun on a rock beside the Manning River at Taree. This one was only about 7" or 8" long.
