Having lost all my pictures the previous week i was very pleased to be able to capture this before the end of the season, and they were in reasonably good condition too :)

Swellshill Bank near Rodborough Common, Stroud in Gloucestershire (UK) (2845)

This tiny mushroom is growing on a fallen leaf near its midvein. Atheniella is a fungal genus that produces mostly brightly coloured fruit bodies on small plant debris. Atheniella species were most recently classified in Mycena because of their stature. However, they lack amyloid spores and tissues bewildering taxonomists, leading to temporary placements in Hemimycena and Marasmiellus before being phylogenetically excluded from both genera and the Mycenaceae. Most recently the genus has been classified in the Porotheleaceae. I am grateful to Jerry Cooper, mycology curator for the INaturalistNZ website, for identifying this fungus and shedding some light on many of my mycological mysteries. He features in this article: www.stuff.co.nz/environment/130556868/meet-one-of-our-mos... The image has been focus stacked.

A glimpse of blue - a pristine mating pair in the September sunshine on Prestbury Hill near Cheltenham (UK) (9376)

I was lucky enough to witness these two beauties mating on Malling Down in perfect conditions. Aren't they beautiful?

A pair of adonis blue butterflies mating at Swelshill Bank near Stroud, the male is the larger more silvery specimen and the female the smaller browner one. This was taken when I met up with flickr member Rod Holbrook at the beginning of the month. Rodders missed these as he'd headed back home to Brizzle!

A pair of adonis blue butterflies caught copulating on the steep south facing slope at Swelshill Bank near Stroud in Gloucestershire. The male is the larger of the two butterflies.

Mating pair on a cool, overcast morning on Fontmell Down in Dorset (UK) (9637).

Only the second time that I've seen one of these vibrant butterflies.

I was really happy to capture this beauty, as the others I saw were in feisty mood and didn't settle long enough.

I was also grateful that he chose this more photogenic perch after his initial choice of dog poo 😳😄

Subfamily:Polyommatinae

Adonis Blue : Polyommatus bellargus

There are still herbs in blossom with wonderful visitors.
