The latest addition to The Majestic Line (alongside existing Glen Tarson, and Glen Massan. Big enough and with additional stabilisers, it offers 10-day cruises all round Inner and Outer Hebrides (an extended cruise which allows greater windows of opportunity in face of weather to explore - unlike the six-day cruises of its sister ships). The Glen Etive is built in the style of a "gentleman's yacht" will undertake 10-day cruises to Islay, Skye, the Outer Hebrides and St Kilda and 6-day cruises to Skye and the Small Isles for 12 guests onboard.
The ship was built at the Ardmaleish Boatbuilding Company’s yard near Port Bannatyne, near Rothesay and was officially named by Scottish actress Barbara Rafferty at the Holy Loch Marina in Sandbank on April 5.

Green Lawn Cemetery is the perfect place to do Autumn foliage photography and practice social distancing during the COVID pandemic.
"On August 2nd, 1848, a group of local leaders met to form the Green Lawn Cemetery Association. Through the spring of 1849 a charter was granted, 84 acres were acquired from local ranchers, and landscape gardener Howard Daniels was hired to plan the cemetery.
The intent of this effort was to replace earlier cemeteries in the city which had become landlocked, where near the river, and were nearing capacity. Influenced by the Romantic Era in the arts and contemporary poetry, attitudes towards death were changing and cemetery design was moving away from the older graveyards, churchyards, and potters' fields towards more natural and serene settings. This was the Rural Cemetery Movement.
Howard Daniels was a purist of this concept, envisioning winding roads and paths following natural contours through dense native trees and shrubbery. Along the paths openings would dramatically reveal family lots with monumental art or a view of a pond or from a natural prominence.
With the city in the grips of a cholera outbreak, our first burial was young Leonora Perry interred on July 7th, 1849 (Leonora was later moved to a family lot in Cincinnati). It wasn't until July 9th that a grand opening was held, and by July 11th our second interment, Dr. Benjamin Gard who contracted cholera while responding to the outbreak at the penitentiary, occurred. Soon prominent families started moving their deceased from the older cemeteries to Green Lawn, and likewise the former city cemeteries were evacuated and redeveloped.
In 1898 a cast iron bridge was installed in The Ravine, and in 1902 the Huntington Chapel was dedicated. The chapel was designed by Columbus architect Frank Packard and its Tiffany decor was sponsored by board president P. W. Huntington. The chapel was expanded as a mausoleum/crematorium in two phases during the 1960's and 1970's.
Over time Green Lawn would grow to its current 360 acres with over 154,000 interments, making it Ohio's second largest cemetery. The grounds continue to feature a pre-European settlement mixed oak forest, many historic and artistic mausoleums and monuments, and it remains one of Columbus' most important cemeteries. Green Lawn provides the final resting place of founding families, several U.S. presidential families, 5 governors, 5 Medal of Honor recipients, artists, actors, and all other walks of life. Over 6,000 veterans fill seven military sections and other sections represent Jewish, Greek, Black, and other communities or various religious, fraternal, governmental, or charitable organizations.
The cemetery is a registered arboretum, and in 1999 was designated an Ohio Audubon Important Bird Area.
Today the Green Lawn Cemetery Association is a 501(c)13 non-profit volunteer board of directors. Our mission is to preserve, restore, and share Green Lawn Cemetery with the community. We also ensure that the cemetery is operated in a fiscally responsible manner and in accordance with industry standards. We start with a black background since in RGB 0,0,0 is pitch black. Then we have 2 datasets with graduated colour scheme from completely transparent to completely red/blue. We use the percentages per council area to show the split, but using absolute counts could also work. These layers have the blending mode of “Addition” so they stack creating a purple map, with the redder areas voting no and the bluer areas voting yes.

After the addition of fried: tomatoes, onions, garlic; cooking together with stewed squash, potatoes and corn. Unlike some locro recipes, I do not add milk, cream, or butter. Just water, and some salt & pepper.

I know this is a horrible photo, but had to keep anyways. Why is it so blurry? The shutter speed was 1/60th of a second, fast enough for a shot where people are standing still and posing. The ISO was a whopping 5000, and the aperture was 6.3. The white balance was on auto, which isn't normally this terrible. I hate my Nikon camera.

Faith leaders and concerned citizens gathered outside the Suffolk House of Corrections to publicly ask ICE officials to release Francisco Rodriguez, an MIT janitor whose son Josué Mateo Rodriguez was born on Monday evening in an emergency delivery. ICE officials offered no response to a request by Mr. Rodriguezâs lawyers for his 24-hour release from detention as his wife underwent labor.
ICE detained Mr. Rodriguez at his last check-in on July 13, despite his compliance with their requests. The federal government was prevented from deporting him by stays issued on July 14 by the Massachusetts District Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
Francisco Rodriguez has lived in the U.S. since 2006. He has lived in the greater Boston area for 10 years, specifically in Chelsea for the last 6 years. He is the father of two American citizen children, 10-year-old Mellanie and a 5-year-old Jessica, with a third child on the way next month. For the past five years, he has been a janitor at MIT. In addition, he runs his own carpet cleaning company. He is a member of his childrenâs school parent committee, of the community organization Chelsea Collaborative, of the Church Tabernaculo biblico seguidores de Jesus, and a union member of 32BJ SEIU (Service Employees International Union) at MIT. Mr. Rodriguez has no criminal record, pays his taxes, and contributes to his community, church, childrenâs school and workplace.
When Mr. Rodriguez arrived to the country, he applied for asylum in 2007. He was denied asylum in December of 2009, and his appeal was denied in July of 2011. He was later granted prosecutorial discretion and has received a Stay of Removal every year since that time. However this past month, when Francisco applied for a Stay, it was denied. If ICE grants Mr. Rodriguez a Stay of Removal, he can continue to work, take care of his family, and contribute to our community. In addition, next year Mr. Rodriguezâs mother, who is a legal permanent resident, will become a citizen. Soon afterwards, a pathway to residency will open for Francisco when his mother files a petition on his behalf.

The Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre is a public aquarium
located in Stanley Park in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
In addition to being a major tourist attraction for Vancouver, the
aquarium is a centre for marine research, conservation and marine
animal rehabilitation.
The Vancouver Aquarium was one of the first facilities to incorporate
professional naturalists into the galleries to interpret animal
behaviours.
Prior to this, at the London Zoo Fish House, naturalists James S.
Bowerbank, Dr. E Lankester, Mr D. Mitchell and Philip Henry Gosse (the
creator of the word aquarium) had regularly held "open house" events,
but the Vancouver Aquarium was the first to employ educational
naturalists on a full-time basis. Aquarium research projects extend
worldwide, and include marine mammal rescue and rehabilitation.The
aquarium is run by a self-supporting non-profit organization. The
operation of the aquarium receives no government funding. The property
is owned by the City of Vancouver and rented to the Aquarium for
$40,000 a year since 1991 (prior to which $1 per year).
In October 2009 the Vancouver Aquarium was designated as a Coastal
America Learning Center by the US Environmental Protection Agency.
As the first Learning Center in Canada, this designation is intended
to strengthen the Canadian/U.S. partnership for protecting and
restoring shared ocean resources.

This is our newest addition. One week ago neighbors knocked on my door and brought me this little guy who was in an absolute terrible condition and I feared the worst. He had a very bad eye infection and when I wiped off the pus that built up in his eyes it came right back. He had a bad cold and difficulty in breathing. He was covered in fleas. I had to bath him three times to get off the worst. The first time the water turned blood red, the second time it was better and it "just" turned yellow. The third time I tried to get rid off as many more fleas as possible. I had no other choice than to treat him with flea medication although he was that young but he was eaten alive, from the outside and the inside. He was just bones with a big belly which made me believe that he had worms as well.
Update: Boots is doing very well. He is now a teenager and he behaves like one. No more cuddling and holding for him because he only wants to play with his buddies and run around like crazy.
I named him Boots because he reminded me of Puss in Boots from Shrek; plus he has that little mustache like Antonio Banderas who was the voice for Puss in Boots.
