Abandoned industrial area (San Francisco)
I love the shape of this old turbine manifold! looks like a giant cookie cutter...
Unfortunately a large steel plate has been welded over the entire manifold, so you cannot see it anymore, and later, the entire area has been covered with landfill. So all that is now buried.
Check my other photos of San Francisco's abandoned industrial area.

This Giant motorized spider is "Walking Beast" by MoltenSteelMan - see www.moltensteelman.mechanicalspider.com/<$1>
This one could not get the Mutant Vehicle permit to go on the playa because it could not turn / steer, it could only walk straight. They'll fix the problem for next year!
The Walking Beast is a mechanical creature that walks on 8 legs!
Its creator wrote: I call it the Beast because of it's size. It will weigh approximately 6 tons (12,000 lbs)! It stands 11 feet tall, 8' 4" wide and 23 feet long! It will be capable of transporting 8 people including the driver. This machine is estimated to be capable of running at speeds up to 50 mph!! (Typical speeds will be under 35mph due to vibration and rotating mass) and walking over obstacles up to 41" high.
The actual speed is more like 2 miles per hour.

Hindu pilgrims on overloaded river boat on the Ganges river, in Varanasi (India).
Most Indian people cannot swim, so if a boat like this were to capsize or sink, it would kill many people (as there are no life-vests on those small river boats, of course).
Those boats are used for ferrying the Hindu pilgrims to a beach across the Ganges river, where they can take the Holy bath in cleaner water.

Hindu Festival in a small village in Jharkhand state (India).
View the video.
Based on the date (April 11, 2013), this may be Ugadi or Gudi Padwa, a celebration of the New Year's Day according to the lunisolar Hindu calendar.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gudi_Padwa
If you can identify the exact name of the Festival or have more info about this ritual, please post a comment!
The Hindu priest of the village walks from a Temple to a nearby pond, over the shoulders of the young men of the village, while a group of older men beat drums with canes.
As soon as the priest has walked on the shoulders of a man, that man runs back to the front of the line and sits on the ground again.
The bare-foot Hindu priest will walk all the way to the pond without touching the ground, and the ceremony will continue near the water.

Adit tunnel, part of an unfinished Hydropower project in Sikkim (India)
I was able to explore the tunnel up to a point where it was flooded (the water pumps were not functionning, but there was some electric lights). The tunnel is obviously unfinished. Not sure what this tunnel is for. I think it maybe to drive heavy equipment to the site, like turbines for the power house, since the small mountain roads cannot be used by heavy trucks.

Street demonstration against the Hydro projects on the Ganges river, at the Kumbh Mela 2013 festival near Allahabad (India).
Several Hydro-electric projects exist on the Ganges river, involving dams and tunnels. The largest of those is the Tehri Dam, one of the largest Hydro developments in the world, upstream from Rishikesh. Some Hindu devotees are against those projects, as the Ganges is a Holy river.
Kumbh Mela is the largest festival on Earth, taking place once every 12 years, with more than 50 million Hindu pilgrims gathering to pray and bathe in the holy Ganges river.
