Freshwater prawns sold at street market in Gairkata (India)
I believe those are freshwater prawns (i.e. river shrimps). There are also a few insects that crawled in the mix, but insects are edible too, so no problem!
If you can identify the exact species, please post a Comment!
I just took a break from my long motorcycle journey and strolled around this lively and colorful street market in a small town called Gairkata, in West Bengal.

SFPD Police cracking-down and arresting many peaceful revelers during the Bay to Breakers footrace festival. It did not appear that the people they arrested were drunk or causing any trouble. They got arrested just because they were partying in the street. Police apparently had orders to crack-down on all festivities on city streets at the 2011 Bay to Breakers race.
SFPD Police did not arrest people that were partying on Park land (Pan handle and Golden Gate Park). I suppose that the rules for arresting people on Park property are a bit different.

Miner buying Dynamite sticks, fuses, blasting caps and Ammonium Nitrate mix at the grocery store - Potosi (Bolivia)
A stick of dynamite like this one costs about $2, and the fuse and blasting cap are less than $2. Dynamite is used everyday in local mines, and you can buy it about everywhere in Bolivia.
The store also sells pink bags of premixed ANFO (Ammonium Nitrate with Fuel Oil), an explosive that is cheaper and more powerful than dynamite, but hard to detonate. Dynamite is used to trigger the blast of the Ammonium Nitrate mix.
Ammonium Nitrate (a common fertiliser) was used to blow up the Oklahoma City federal building.

My windsurfing gear.
Sadly all my land sailing gear got stolen (yes, stolen!) last year at Burning Man 2007 (board, 2 sails, 2 carbon masts, 2 booms, streamers), more than $1500 worth of equipment. The equipment was stolen just before the dust storm on Friday afternoon, near 8:00 and Esplanade in front of the minigolf camp. I filed a police report. Any information about this equipment is welcome, e.g. maybe you have seen your neighbors coming to their camp with all this gear?
I don't know if I'll have the heart to do that again...

Road construction (Vietnam)
1) put some wood between the barrels of asphalt and start a fire so that the asphalt will melt and become liquid. If no wood is available, use anything that can burn, like old tires. Bonus points if you can burn something really toxic.
2) When the asphalt start melting, scoop some at the top and poor it on the wood. Asphalt burns well, so this will help melting the rest of the asphalt.
3) Repeat step 2 until the asphalt in entirely melted in the barrels. This will take several hours and produce a really nice plume of toxic smoke. If you are lucky, you will only need to burn 30% of your asphalt to melt the rest, so you have 70% asphalt left to pour on the road.

Ancient Khasi memorial stones, in the East Khasi Hills, in Meghalaya (India)
I noticed a large number of those small square stone structures (about 20-30 cm side for the center hole).
From reading various old books about the Khasi people ancient funeral traditions, I believe that those square structures are small burial chamber, i.e. small boxes where the ashes of the dead were kept, temporarily before a big ceremony (that did not take place too often) where they were moved into a larger Cinerarium (or large burial chamber), i.e. basically a communal tomb holding the remains of all the Tribe's elders.

Muddy street after the big rain storm, at the Kumbh Mela 2013 Hindu festival near Allahabad (India)
A big wind and rain storm caused extensive damage and flooding in the entire Kumbh Mela ground. The festival basically shut down two weeks early because of the destruction and flooding.
Kumbh Mela is the largest festival on Earth, taking place once every 12 years, with more than 50 million Hindu pilgrims gathering to pray and bathe in the holy Ganges river.
For more photos and info about the Kumbh Mela festival, read the album description.

Photo taken at the 2011 Bay to Breakers footrace and street festival (San Francisco).
