It is a complicated operation that involves ropes, pulleys and a lot of workers. At the foot of the pylon, you can see large wheels of aluminium cables that will be used for the power lines.

One of the guys up in the tower is not wearing any safety harness!

An entire neighborhood is being built to provide housing and commercial spaces for the growing middle-class in the Delhi area.

Villages and agricultural lands have been bulldozed to make room for this huge planned development, part of the "Greater Noida" project.

Plastic trash on beach (Borneo Island)

The trash, mostly plastic containers, washes off on all the beaches in this region.

Kelambu is truly a beautiful secluded beach, hard to reach and far away for the nearest village. I decided to camp on that desert beach.

They put the fishes that they catch in a small net attached to a piece of Styrofoam, that floats and that they drag with them when they swim.

Security at the Mulu airport is a bit of a joke.

Past the security checkpoint and X-ray screening, there is a souvenir shop (in the secure boarding area) where anyone can buy traditional Penan machetes like this one.

Those are the real machete, with very sharp blades, that are used everyday by local Penan villagers to cut trails in the jungle.

I think this defeats the point of having security screening with an X-ray machine and a metal detector if you can buy a weapon after going through security, and take it on board!

Via Ferrata Tridentina, Dolomites Mountains (Italian Alps).

The Via Ferrata clims the almost vertical cliff just behind the Pisciadù waterfall on this photo, and it reaches a small footbridge close to the top of the knob. If you zoom-in on the high-resolution version this photo, you can see several climbers ascending the route.

The climbing route involves ascending more than 2,500 feet (750m) of almost vertical cliff, equipped with cables and occasional metal ladders or steps.

I took this photo at a cattle market I stumbled upon on the road in West Bengal (India).

All the local farmers were there to buy and sell livestock (often young animals). Most of them were Muslim. This is a portrait of one of those farmers.

The orange color of his teeth is from chewing Betel nut. Betel nut is consumed by many people in India, as a psycho-stimulating and euphoria-inducing drug.

Adit tunnel, part of an unfinished Hydropower project in Sikkim (India)

I was able to explore the tunnel up to a point where it was flooded (the water pumps were not functionning, but there was some electric lights). The tunnel is obviously unfinished. Not sure what this tunnel is for. I think it maybe to drive heavy equipment to the site, like turbines for the power house, since the small mountain roads cannot be used by heavy trucks.

This is part of a semi-abandoned unfinished Hydro-Power Project on the Teesta river in Sikkim (India). The project is developed by Lanco Infratech Limited.

This is my friend Bun Bun (Chelsea), trying a Royal Enfield bullet motorbike at the Kumbh Mela 2013 festival, near Allahabad (India).

The motorbike was a bit too heavy for her. I ended up using this motorbike for the rest of my trip in India and Nepal.

These are either Saturniidae, or a closely related family (Thanks, Boris!).

Live "Nhộng Tằm" worms sold in Food Market (don't lick your screen!)

Best eaten fried (really crispy!). Nhộng Tam worms are a delicacy in some parts of Vietnam, but I didn't get a change to try that for diner.

Those are some type of Silkworms (but not Lepidoptera). They produce a cocoon that is harvested by the tribe people in Northern Vietnam. They are most likely moth larvae, either Saturniidae, or a closely related family.

After beeing extracted from the silk cocoon, the worms are eaten (naturally!). I'm not sure how they are cooked or served, though...

The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, locally known as the "Toy Train", is a 2 ft (610 mm) narrow gauge railway that runs between New Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling (India). It is still operated by vintage British-built B Class steam locomotives. Operations between Siliguri and Kurseong have been temporarily suspended since 2010 following a Landslide at Tindharia (view photos of the landslide).

High resolution panorama of two of the 18 temporary pontoon bridges (i.e. floating bridges) installed during the Kumbh Mela 2013 festival near Allahabad (India).

Looks amazing when viewed in high-resolution.

These pontoon bridges are over the Ganges (Ganga) river. Those floating bridges are built on top of large empty metal tanks, and are anchored to the river bottom with ropes on the upstream side of the bridge. Those bridges are mostly used for pedestrian traffic. During high affluence periods when large crowds are crossing the floating bridges, bridges are one-way, with alternating direction for each other bridge. This rule was taken after a stampede in a previous year caused the bridge railing to fail and many people to fall in the river and drawn (most of the Hindu pilgrims cannot swim!).

The water was very low in the Ganges river at the time, so in fact this bridge was not floating, but just sitting on the sandy bottom of the shallow river.

Kumbh Mela is the largest festival on Earth, taking place once every 12 years, with more than 50 million Hindu pilgrims gathering to pray and bathe in the holy Ganges river.

This is a cave map with the approximate path of the "Clearwater Connection adventure caving tour" in Gunung Mulu National Park (Borneo)

The Clearwater Connection circuit is about 8 Km long and 6 hours of walking, scrambling, crawling and squeezing. No rappelling or technical climbing is needed, but knotted ropes are used at numerous places to pass difficult obstacles. The tour enters by Wind Cave and exits by the Clearwater River Cave. This is one of the most interesting caving tour that can be done by park visitors in Mulu.

The Clearwater System is believed to be the largest interconnected cave system in the world by volume and the 9th longest cave in the world at 189 Km (as of 2011).

The Hindu priest of the village walks from a Temple to a nearby pond, over the shoulders of the young men of the village, while a group of older men beat drums with canes.

As soon as the priest has walked on the shoulders of a man, that man runs back to the front of the line and sits on the ground again.

The bare-foot Hindu priest will walk all the way to the pond without touching the ground, and the ceremony will continue near the water.

There was no injury, but some mechanical damage (front right wheel ripped off).

Yamunotri can only be reached by a 8 Km foot trail, so all the supply are hauled up using caravans of pack mules or donkeys.

Here, the caravan returns (with no load) to the nearby village of Janki Chatti.
