Hatchery - Dallas C.O.R.E. Project.

This was a nice-looking piece but sadely the spiral pathway was not designed and built to be climbed. It would have been so nice to climb up the fiery spiral and get down by the stairs. So i gave that one a thumb down.

Artists often forget that making "climbable" art is very important at Burning Man. I get very disappointed everytime i see a "Do Not Climb" sign on a large art installation on the Playa.

When I mentioned that to the artist, she was extremely upset at me.

The base structure is still standing but most of its skin has burned, leaving just the frame. The charred Man's effigy is still standing on top of its base.

Fire Motorbike at the Kumbh Mela 2013 festival near Allahabad (India).

The Indian Fire Department at Kumbh Mela had several of those Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycles equipped with up to 4 fire extinguishers and an oxygen tank. They provide faster access to a fire, given the sometimes very crowded streets of the festival ground, where driving a fire engine might not work well.

Kumbh Mela is the largest festival on Earth, taking place once every 12 years, with more than 50 million Hindu pilgrims gathering to pray and bathe in the holy Ganges river.

I installed a 9mm static rope at the upper window of the "Goldman Sucks" building, and went rappelling down the facade. I then let a few other rock climbers do it with my climbing harness.

Street with closed shops in Gangotri (India)

Gangotri is an important Hindu pilgrimage destination on the Bhagirathi river, high in the Himalaya mountains. The Bhagirathi is one of the headstreams of the Ganges river.

Gangotri has no full-time inhabitants, and it is just guarded by a few soldiers during the winter time. Early in the season, before thousands of Hindu Yatri (pilgrims) arrive in Gangotri, all the shops are closed. The town comes to life only later, in late spring and summer, when the pilgrims arrive.

When I arrived there in early spring, by motorbike, Gangotri was really like a ghost town!

Only a few locals were there, mostly to repair the accommodations and get them ready for the pilgrims that would come in mass later in the season. Luckily I managed to find a room (very cold, with no heat and with no water) and a place to eat dinner.

The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, locally known as the "Toy Train", is a 2 ft (610 mm) narrow gauge railway that runs between New Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling (India). It is still operated by vintage British-built B Class steam locomotives. Operations between Siliguri and Kurseong have been temporarily suspended since 2010 following a Landslide at Tindharia (view photos of the landslide).

it seems that this particular Post Office has not changed much since the time India was under British rule. All the signs are in English, a language that most locals cannot understand (their native language is Hindi or Nepali).

Description by the artist:

Dive In The Pool is an environment of giant, concentric circles created from interactive, wireless circular pads. By entering the pool, you enter a world where play and collaborative movement can create a cascading effect of swirling light and color. By adding and subtracting light, individuals and groups of people will be able to interact with The Pool in profound ways. The interaction will vary dramatically depending on the number of individuals involved. This dynamic interaction between individuals and The Pool will create environments ranging from curious and playful with few participants to energetic and competitive with many participants. Like a giant game of light _ping pong,_ the pool will have users running and jumping, adding, bouncing, and colliding their lights.
