Dr Harry Adelson wrote: This is my car, The Pilot Fish, 2013 was it's first year - we BARELY finished it in time. In fact, this picture was taken early in the week before we put in the teeth and spring-action jaw. The Pilot Fish lives in Park City, Utah. See you in 2014 - with some upgrades, of course.
The Pilot Fish does not yet have a website yet, but you can contact Dr Harry Adelson through his clinic www.docereclinics.com.

Five steam locomotives parked in the Darjeeling Train Yard (India)
Of those five steam engines (in this photo), three were in working order and two were undergoing maintenance. More steam locomotives are located in other stations on the line and in the Tindharia workshop.

The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, locally known as the "Toy Train", is a 2 ft (610 mm) narrow gauge railway that runs between New Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling (India). It is still operated by vintage British-built B Class steam locomotives. Operations between Siliguri and Kurseong have been temporarily suspended since 2010 following a Landslide at Tindharia (view photos of the landslide).

Sailing Stone coming towards me with sun backlight - Racetrack dry lake in Death Valley (California)
Sailing stones are rocks that move in long tracks on the smooth and perfectly flat surface of a dry lake, without human or animal intervention. The rocks are most likely propelled by strong winds while entrapped in floating ice sheets (or icebergs), after winter rains flooded the dry lake and made the mud soft and slippery.

Dog blood sausage sold on the market (Lang Sơn, Vietnam)
Those blood sausages are made by stuffing the dog's intestin with a mixture made with the dog's blood, brain and some vegetables and herbs.
This photo is part of a series called Thịt chó: eating a (hot) dog that can be seen on the website dog-meat.net. A lots of interesting comments and reactions have been posted on the various photo sites where this series has been published.
WARNING: These images are graphic, not suitable for kids and people with a weak stomach!
Western culture considers that eating a dog is cruel, barbaric and disgusting (not illegal, though), but ironically we have no problem eating all other sorts of animals as long as they are not called pets.
But for the vast majority of people on earth, cultural values are very different. Dog meat is considered a delicacy in some asian cultures, and indeed cooked dog meat is very tasty and protein rich. You should try it some day! (if you are not vegetarian)
"Food dogs" are not pets and they have no names. They are bred and raised in farms, just like pigs, cows, lambs, chickens and other farm animals. They are usually put down "humanely" just like any other farm animal, by slitting the throat and bleeding the animal until it passes out.- However some disturbing cases of food dogs being tortured before being slaughtered have been documented.
This series of photos shows the process involved in preparing a dog for dinner, from slautering to cutting-up, eviscerating, de-boning, cooking and of course eating! These photos were taken in Bac Ha, a small town in the Northern part of Vietnam, and in various markets of the region.
In case you are wondering, I did not order the dog for dinner, I just stumbled on the scene in the street and documented it, since I had my camera.

Hindu devotees are taking the ritual bath in the Ganges river, while a large crowd takes part in a procession with the all the Ashram Gurus on decorated floats, on the pontoon bridge, at the Kumbh Mela 2013 festival near Allahabad (India).
Looks amazing when viewed in high-resolution.
This was the Kumbh Maha Snan or main bathing day, also called Mauni Amavasya, which is the the most auspicious day for taking the holy bath in the Ganges river.
This bridge is one of the 18 temporary pontoon bridges (i.e. floating bridges) installed during the Kumbh Mela.
This pontoon bridge is over the Ganges (Ganga) river. Those floating bridges are built on top of large empty metal tanks, and are anchored to the river bottom with ropes on the upstream side of the bridge. Those bridges can support trucks up to 10 Tons, but to be safe, the maximum weight was set to 5 Tons. Those bridges are mostly used for pedestrian traffic. During high affluence periods when large crowds are crossing the floating bridges, bridges are one-way, with alternating direction for each other bridge. This rule was taken after a stampede in a previous year caused the bridge railing to fail and many people to fall in the river and drawn (most of the Hindu pilgrims cannot swim!).
The water was very low in the Ganges river at the time, so in fact this bridge was not floating, but just sitting on the sandy bottom of the shallow river.
Kumbh Mela is the largest festival on Earth, taking place once every 12 years, with more than 50 million Hindu pilgrims gathering to pray and bathe in the holy Ganges river.

Tribe woman with bloody lips (caused by chewing betelnut), and blackened / lacquered teeth, a cultural and traditional sign of beauty (Bảo Lạc, Vietnam)
Betelnut ("cau" in Vietnamese) is is the fruit of the Areca tree. It is wrapped with a "lá trầu" leaf (a different tree) and chewed for its exhilarating lift. Betel quids chewing has been claimed to produce a sense of well-being, euphoria, heightened alertness, sweating, salivation, a hot sensation in the body and increased capacity to work.
Just like alcohol, tobacco, coffee and sakau, betelnut is a culturally-approved psychoactive drug.
See the Betelnut Wikipedia page.
See the "lá trầu" leaves Wikipedia article.
Diu Nghiem wrote: Her blackened teeth was NOT caused by chewing betelnut and betel leaf but by using some special chemical. Blackening tooth chemical is usually natural material which varies from the North to South of Vietnam. The process might take a couple of day in order to get the perfect shiny black.
Men and women did that because of the same reason which caused other people whitening their teeth (they consider black teeth to be a sign of beauty). After the occupancy of France in Vietnam blackened teeth is not popular anymore.
