On June 2 2011, two San Francisco firefighters, Vincent Perez and Anthony Valerio, were killed in a house fire. It was the San Francisco Fire Department's deadliest call in 65 years.
On June 10th 2011, a funeral procession of about 500 firetrucks from all over California, escorted by motorcycle Police, carried the fallen SFFD firefighters from St Mary's Cathedral to the cemetery. I took this photo at this event.

Bamboo bridge near Mawlynnong in the East Khasi Hills, in Meghalaya (India)
When rivers are too wide to grow living root bridges across them, the Khasi people build foot bridges with bamboo and rattan (they use no nylon rope or metal wire, it is 100% organic).
This bamboo bridge has a span of more than 20 meters (60 feet) and passes 10 meters (30 feet) above a river. They need to rebuild the bridge every few years because it gets rotten.
This bamboo bridge was at the end of its life, and the local villagers were planning to rebuild it.

If you know the name of this art car, please post a comment or email me.
It was a lot of fun to ride this thing. The vehicle was very cleverly designed and electrically powered. It was controlled with two joysticks (one for each wheel). By having each wheel turn in opposite directions, it could rotate on a dime (like a skid-steer or a tracked machinery).

A huge crowd of Hindu devotees, men and boys, heads towards the Ganges river at the Kumbh Mela 2013 Hindu festival near Allahabad (India).
Kumbh Mela is the largest festival on Earth, taking place once every 12 years, with more than 50 million Hindu pilgrims gathering to pray and bathe in the holy Ganges river.
Thousands of Hindu devotees (mostly naked men, with their bodies covered with ritual wood ash) run at dawn toward the bank of the Ganges river at the Sangam where they will take the Holy Dip. The Triveni Sangam is the confluence of the Yamuna and the Ganga (Ganges) rivers, and this is the holiest place to take the ritual baths during the Kumbh Mela.
This was the early morning of Vasant Panchami Snan day, an important religious date for Hindu people and one of the most auspicious mornings for taking the holy bath in the Ganges river.
For more info about Vibhuti, the Hindu holy ash, read en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vibhuti.

Abandoned Train Station, now occupied by a bar called "la flèche d'or".
The "Petite Ceinture" or "PC" (Small Belt) is an abandoned railway line in the city of Paris (France).
The PC circles around Paris, hence the name "Small Belt". It was used for metro-type passenger trains until 1934. Since then, it is completely abandoned, made obsolete by the new underground metro lines, but most of the rails, tunnels and stations still exist. The PC mostly runs in trench or overpasses, with a few tunnel segments.
A classic destination for Parisian graffiti artists and urban explorers! Of course, this is a NO TRESPASSING area, and the Police Ferroviaire (Railway Police) occasionally writes hefty tickets to trespassers.
Check my other photos of railways.
