Mostar, in Herzegovina, is the fifth-largest city in Bosnia. It has a long history. Humans have actually been here since prehistoric times. There's also evidence of Roman settlement here underneath the town. The town as we know it today -- Mostar -- dates to the Middle Ages. The name refers to the bridge for which the town is most known. ("Stari Most" means "Old Bridge" in Serb-Croat.) The name of 'Mostar' first appears in the written record in 1474. The stone bridge that is synonymous with the city was built in 1566 by the Ottomans, and it's one of the best examples of Islamic architecture in the Balkans. (It's been restored, of course, recently in 2003.)
The population here is about 50-50 between Croats & Bosniaks, and some Serbs. During the Bosnian War of the 1990s, Mostar came under heavy fire -- there was a snipers' alley here, just as in Sarajevo -- and a number of buildings riddled with bullets and mortar are still visible as reminders.
For the most part, though, Mostar is nowadays a tourist city that sells a lot of "authentic" souvenirs. (Maybe some are, but I didn't look too closely at any.) On this particular day trip of Herzegovina, Mostar and the Old Bridge are probably what I was most looking forward to. It was the least favorite stop of the day for me. (This isn't a knock on Mostar; it's just that the rest of the stops were so surprisingly nice for me.) By the time we got to Mostar, there was barely an hour of daylight left, so we rushed through and didn't have a lot of time to explore. That's one of the reasons the "classic" shot of Stari Most isn't here.

Actually, he does wear shoes sometimes. It's just he frequently walks around the office, and even into meetings, with only socks on. Really knows his stuff though. I think he's running the process department :)
Didn't actually plan to go out this year but since everyone was so hyped about it at work, I knew that I was going to get major FOMO.
I did a last minute thing. Using my calico toile, I decided to vamp it up with safety pins as fastenings and then cut up some old jeans. My friend did my makeup and Overall quite happy with how it turned out. Not that it really mattered since we all got quite intoxicated at the party XD.
This shot was actually taken toward the end of the month, but Andrea has good reason to smile -- it's been a really good month for us. As we wind up our time in America, we look back on all the experiences and people we've encountered with great joy.
I actually like this one so that's a nice change. The woods behind my house always inspire me. My brothers and I spent a lot of our time playing there when we were little. For me, the trees still hold a bit of the magic of the games we used to play and the worlds we used to create.

Mandevilla sanderi 'Red Riding Hood', is a profusely blooming shrubby vine that is easily maintained with minimal shearing. Shiny dark green leaves are the background for hot pink, trumpet shaped flowers with a contrasting bright yellow throat; blooms from spring through fall.
