Cone Nebula

Resembling a nightmarish beast rearing its head from a crimson sea, this monstrous object is actually a pillar of gas and dust. Called the Cone Nebula because of its conical shape in ground-based images, this giant pillar resides in a turbulent star-forming region. Taken by the Hubble Space Telescope in April 002, this image shows the upper 2.5 light-years of the nebula, a height that equals 23 million round trips to the moon. The entire nebula is 7 light years in length. The Cone Nebula resides 2,500 light-years away in the constellation Monoceros.

Radiation from hot, young stars has slowly eroded the nebula over millions of years. Ultraviolet light heats the edges of the dark cloud, releasing gas into the relatively empty region of surrounding space. There, additional ultraviolet radiation causes the hydrogen gas to glow, which produces the red halo of light seen around the pillar. A similar process occurs on a much smaller scale to gas surrounding a single star, forming the bow-shaped arc seen near the upper left side of the Cone. This arc is 65 times larger than the diameter of our solar system. The blue-white light from surrounding stars is reflected by dust. Background stars can be seen peeking through the evaporating tendrils of gas, while the turbulent base is pockmarked with stars reddened by dust. Over time, only the densest regions of the Cone will be left. Inside these regions, stars and planets may form.

The Cone Nebula is a cousin of the M16 pillars, which the Hubble imaged in 1995. Monstrous pillars of cold gas like the Cone and M16 are common in large regions of star birth. Astronomers believe the pillars are incubators for developing stars.

Actually it's the 'Bell Hill' Fluorspar mine.. But always kidding around. Many, many stories of this adit on the south end of the Spor mountains. ..Have found Ordovician (495-442 million yrs.) Coral fossils replaced by Purple Fluorite on the dump. Lots of Purple Fluorite in the mine and some Bertrandite (a basic beryllium silicate). A pal and I once spent three days inside swinging in our hammocks and BSing, as it was around 100 degs. outside, but a cool 65 deg. inside. It's loaded with Radon Gas, as read from my scintillation meter.( I will post a photo of it ) Radon is heavy so stays low near the floor. Up in Montana I saw signs along the road of places you could pay to go bathe in Radon gas. (mines or caves?)

Anyway, It's a great base camp for exploring all the other mines in the area. Larry ran into the Spor family from Delta Ut. out there on his last trip. I would have loved to have met them.. Imagine having a mountain range named after you..

BoBae Market and BoBae Towers.

Some parts of this market are actually in Pathumwan District near the Hualamphong Railway Station. In Krung Kasem road, but to save confusion its all added to Pom Prap Sattru Phai district, after all its still all Bangkok. It is not confusing to Thai people, it’s still Bobae Market and district lines mean nothing to them especially if they work there.

I love visiting this market, it’s so crazy. The narrow passageways, almost seems like a prison sentence for the people working within them. It’s confined, it’s hot, it’s humid and in many places so crowded its not easy to make progress to buy or sell. This market caters for bulk buyers and is therefore very cheap if you know how to drive a hard bargain.

As you pass over the canal Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem this canal splits the market in two, then cross the Krung Kasem road, take the one narrow passageway ( along Khlong Mahanak ) leading to Bobae Towers, swift and noisy ferry boats pass along the canal creating a huge wash that gives the locals on the sides a few problems. This passageway is no more than a metre wide, so be prepared to side step before you reach the other end. This then opens up on Bobae Towers building. It’s a bit like the Day the Earth stood still. The traffic here is terrible. However, there is also plenty to see and do here.

Bobae Market is a major low-cost clothing selling area. It is located on a section of Krung Kasem Road between Lan Luang Road and Bamrung Mueang Road on the northeast border of the district. BoBae market is well known to be the centre of garment wholesale for over 30 years. Today, Bobae Tower revolutionised the wholesale clothing business by having well over 1300 shops all under one roof with air conditioning and facilities for the customer's convenience making BoBae Tower the biggest garment wholesale centre in Thailand. It offers good quality clothing at reasonable prices together with facilities for export & shipping transactions BoBae Tower is situated in the heart of Bangkok where transportation is the most convenient.

Bangkok is a shopping haven where you can make use of your shopping skills while enjoying the bustling lifestyle this Thai city can offer. If you are searching for the best goods at the best price, Bangkok certainly won’t disappoint. Many visitors visit Pratunam Market or Chatuchak Market many times while visiting Thailand, but the smart local resident knows where to find the best place for mass market clothing. In Bangkok’s busy Bobae Market this area offers all you need for wholesale shopping to be found in two main areas – Bobae Market and Bobae Tower which are in the same location.

These have long been recognized in Bangkok as a wholesale market paradise, with thousands of shops and bargain clothing goods. The goods here are at very low prices and usually sold by the dozens. It is the favourite hunting ground not just for shoppers but traders. If you are heading to this side of town, here are a few things to consider on your bargain hunting list: Clothing / Textiles and Fabrics / Vegetables and Fruits / Fashion Jewelry.

Actually me and my friend biked to Varberg this summer (which is about 40km) and when we where hanging out and eating at the so called "Fästningen" , we got a visit from this seagull and his friend, and we both had a lot of sweets with us so we gave them some and we got a few really cool shots when the seagulls were catching the food! :)

Actually it's a shifter but I like this title better.

Actually, GA 57 and GA 99 are the same road. A few miles to the east was when the roads switch from one number to the other. GA 57 goes in a northwest direction from here to the towns of Ludiwici and Swainsboro, while GA 99 hugs the land between I-95 and the coast, serving as an alternative to I-95 and US 17 for the Darien area.

The day after taking the photo, I was on I-95 North. At I-95 was a sign for End GA 57. Either way, one number overtakes the other.

PERSONAL FUN FACT written by my sister: I remember when this first appeared in American Girl catalogs. Shelly does too. Actually, to say it was a memorable moment for the both of us would be true. We remember this page and how much we loved it--and the cooler was our favorite part! (It all goes back to doll food.) We used to make up stories about the items in the catalogs and this was a favorite plot point. Whole stories made up to incorporate this adorable cooler. I saw this in real life once circa 1998. A friend of mine got it for her birthday and I was JEALOUS. Like, who wouldn't be? It was perfection. At some point, Shelly and I did price this out online, but we weren't serious. However, for Christmas 2023, Shelly went on a secret mission (she could be in the CIA, her ability to keep a secret is astounding) and spent a month tracking down some of my favorite items American Girl produced--GOT items from the late 90s and, mostly, things for Rebecca Rubin! Because this was the first non-Rebecca item I unwrapped following a string of Rebecca items, this did stump me as I held the wrapped package and could feel that it was plastic, not a clothing item, and that it was square shaped. (Shelly had hoped to trick me by having it follow all the Rebecca items.) Once I saw the blue and yellow, I was stumped no more! Shelly wrote on her note that she got it without the juice boxes because she realized that they are cardboard, not plastic! So, why pay extra money for cardboard juice boxes. (I know that, if you've read Shelly's photos about her Mary-Kate and Ashley doll collection, and seen just how much she wanted certain cardboard punchouts, you'd think her feelings on the cardboard juice boxes were a juxtaposition. However, knowing that the juice boxes are cardboard, not plastic like we thought, and honestly not that exciting as far as cardboard dolly items goes makes me wholeheartedly agree with her that it was NOT worth paying a lot more money just for the paper boxes.) The only items Shelly didn't get with our set were cardboard/paper. That stuff doesn't last well after 20 years and has less play value (and you can't wash it). I think the sandwich is my favorite part! Well, I know it is, but the brownies are an easy second--I mean, how cute are they? With their little frosting swirls. So perfect and tiny and realistic. I put one next to Rebecca's hand and thought it was adorable. (Shelly said that, when the stuff arrived, she felt like it was smaller than she pictured.) Now, back to the more important topic--the sub! As you see, it is not actually two separate pieces, but four! Shelly laid it out so both sides of each component can be viewed. The lettuce and tomato are molded to the top half of the bun and the cheese and meat (ham? Hopefully not bologna) is molded to the bottom. Okay, so I'm being anal here--but that's totally upside down (ask Shelly about my sandwich arrangement ritual--I always put the lettuce on the bottom and the cheese on top). Which doesn't detract from it's cuteness or perfection! The detail on the bun itself is great. And the sandwich is meant to be "cut" in half. The oranges...Well, they are pretty great and I love them. But they are just oranges. (I guess even in dolly size, I prefer sandwiches and sweets over fruit and vegetables.) Super cute oranges though. The cooler itself is awesome! The lid slides open at the center. There are square indentations on the top that, if memory serves me right, are meant to hold the juice boxes. I think you are meant to put the food on top of the cooler like it's a table. It feels surreal having something that I fantasized about owning for SO long!!!
