The dog actually fell asleep while I was pretending to be asleep. It makes the photo all the more adorable.
The calm in this picture says nothing of the whirlwind of activity in my house in the past few weeks. The whole damn thing is in upheaval.
The main bathroom has been entirely redone: new bathtub, new toilet, new sink, new tiling. Soon, there'll be a new floor to go with it.
The kitchen has been repainted, the counters have been removed in preparation for new countertops. New cabinets have been installed, giving us something to do with the left side of the kitchen other than a repository for dog waste. We'll have new appliances within the next few months.
The entire living room has been rearranged and rewired. All of the electronics have been moved to the other side of the room. The bedsheet formerly serving as the screen for my projector has been replaced by an actual screen.
There's a giant tapestry of Sleeping Beauty's Castle hanging over my bed now.
Little things have changed, too. All the doorknobs in the house have been changed, so now we can lock each other out of rooms temporarily during fights. The knobs and handles on every folding door and cabinet have been replaced. The decorations for both bathrooms have been put in place after months of storage.
The constant change has put us in a few awkward positions.
For one, when the tub was removed, xmas weekend hit before the new tub could be installed. This left us with a pipe sticking out of the wall at the level of the tub spout. We showered in the squatting position for the long weekend (and the two sick days the guys installing it took afterwards) which is every bit as pleasant as it sounds.
I'm not as comfortable with change as I thought I was. Well, to be fair, it's more the prospect of change that has me constantly second-guessing the wisdom of what we're doing. When actual change occurs I embrace it and welcome even more in its direction. I just hem and haw when it comes to getting a project like this started. I think the problem is that what "this" refers to is interchangeable with too many things in my life.
Actually another of my 'mini world' series. This time a sunset over a distant horizon. (see 'mini world' previously for link to 'how to do')
Actually all that remains of the A&P in the French Quarter. As of a couple hours before we walked past, it turned into a sushi place. 'Coz who needs grocery stores?
This was the last stretch before we reached the top. I can't remember whether this was before or after Libby's forehead went mano-a-mano with the mountain. (The mountain won.)
... for fake Sweet Tea. Actually, this is Crystal Light Peach Tea. I've loved this stuff for years. It's a good thing because it looks like this is the type of Sweet Tea I'll be drinking from now on.
For years I've been taunting my family members with the fact that I was the only one of my siblings that wasn't diabetic. Both of my parents were and all of my brothers are. Lucky me! I could eat all the birthday cake and ice cream that I wanted! Neener Neener Neener! That is, as long as I didn't mind the fat calories.
Well, all of that ended this week. Confirmation: I am no longer "Borderline" as my Dr. informed me last year. I am now Full Fledged! If I had followed all of his advice about diet and exercise, I wouldn't be posting this pic.
Instead, I've added more meds to my ever increasing arsenal... sigh.
Maybe by this time next year I'll have my act together.
Actually a respirator and hearing protection, repairing bricks and mortar damaged by 'rust jacking' of the lintels, which were not properly protected (Chicago 2012). One of the workers said it was not feasible to cut the bricks wet, when I asked about the small wet saws available for cutting bathroom tile.
Actually they aren't even her flowers, she was just holding them while I had my fisheye out, liked the colors!
I actually took few shots of Buzz lightyear with various arm positions in hopes to create a good double/multiple exposure shot. However the slight movement of the subject created a blurry affect which I didn't wanted. With time running out I decided to just post one of the shots. There is always next time ;)!
Actually the feathers are the same, but the beaks are rather unique. I don't see these guys very often. To be honest I don't even know what kind of birds the are but we had a lot of them in the park this morning.
Edit- based on the comment below I went Googling and they do appear to be Black Skimmers, the beak is pretty distinctive. It also appears that the reason I don't remember seeing them before is that they really are not native at all to this area; mostly South America and the Caribbean. Guess these guys were plain lost or just visiting the area for Spring Break?
actually, she's eating her booger after picking it from her nose. you'd think after 22 years she'd know not to do that.
Actually taken in Dortmund, Germany:D.
The car (Chevrolet Bel Air '57(?)) looks incredible!!!

This is a great boba spot--love the ambiance and the drinks are great too. I had actually ordered an F5, but got the F6 instead which turned out to be even better (raspberry black tea with white agar pearls).
Pekoe. San Jose, California.
Busway markings actually doing their job - keeping cars out of the bus lane.
[Update 26 May 2015] This colored bus lane on Jackson Blvd. in downtown Chicago was part of a two-block trial ten years ago. The colored pavement has long since been replaced with conventional bus lane markings and was not expanded to other locations.
Work is underway however on a new Bus Rapid Transit project called Loop Link a few blocks to the north that uses red-colored concrete in exclusive bus lanes.
...actually they are fireworks on NYE to celebrate the arrival of my new son! The view is from the window in the hospital room where my wife and new son were staying.
I'm sure he'll grow to love the "combination gifts" he's going to get throughout his life ;)

Traffic actually isn’t that bad on 80, but still the city looks so busy from up on Corona Heights. It’s an easy hike up the hill from the Castro, and so worth it for the wonderful views.

Actually, they're not.
These aren't just ANY eggs - these are the Rolls Royce of eggs - old-fashioned shiny brown organic beauties, with a little crest stamped on each one. It's amazing what they can train chickens to do these days...
I didn't buy them simply because the colour is a perfect foil for my gorgeous new crackle-glazed plate. Honest...
Nothing melodramatic to post about this time. Just myself, in bed, studying a philosophy book for my exam tomorrow. I feel pretty confident about this test, so I haven't done a lot of studying. I won't have to go overnight for this one, that's for sure. After this test is over, only one more. All I'll have to do is some memorization about Linux, and I'll be clear for that one.
Don't get your hopes up for any more pictures of a dirty, haggard, tired me.
