Actually Leicester Square, not China Town. Taken with Kodak Tri-X 400 on a Fuji GF670. Developed with Ilfosol 3 (7.5 minutes, agitating 10 seconds per minute).
Actually not an alien at all - this is a Spiked Pea Gall or Sputnik Gall! It is found on Dog Rose (Rosa canina) and is caused by the gall wasp Diplolepisa nervosa. Each gall contains one wasp.
Actually, I saw this pool table in a restaurant we ate at, and thought i'd experiment a little with my camera.
You can't really tell because I my focus is just to far away here, but this rail is covered with old moss. That is what I was trying to capture but I missed it! This is all I have for fence Fri. this time. I will catch up with every one much later. I have another newborn this morning!!
Actually there were plenty of shrubs and small trees in the wadi. Thorny acacia trees were very prevalent.
I actually almost wore a similar shirt, but decided it was going to be too damn cold, and went for the sweatshirt instead. Also, I really wanted to wear my comfortable pants, which are a dark charcoal grey -- it was too much dark.

That white space over the TV tortures me. I had orginally planned to buy a Cameroon Juju hat (in my style tray) to put over the TV, but there have been some import problems with those hats. I think now I'm going to keep it simple and put a large frame from IKEA over the TV (see style tray). I will spraypaint it white.
Actually, he's in the front window of SG GRAND antiques. What looks like ice & open water along the shore is actually slush & snow on the Grand Avenue pavement, and the lakeside weeds are in the planter out front.

Actually, once again, it was blazing hot with a shining sun. There must be something about people shopping and spending more at night, because this is what the inside of the "mall" at the Venetian looked like. As for me, I got too sleepy looking for the Barney's store and headed back outside. :)
Yeah, actually the #decayed #gshock looks seriously #cyberpunk. I think I might just wear it till it crumbles to dust.

Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wifes, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around.
Many (actually far too many) years ago a camera magazine printed a photo taken of a group of lamps and the technique used a long shutter speed combined with camera movement to produce a neat pattern. Last night I stepped outside and on a whim shot some frames of the Christmas lighting in front of the house in an attempt to adapt that old technique. Most are uninteresting but the odd one happened to appeal to me. If you look closely you can see the lamps' LEDs come out as dot trails because the LEDs are blinking rapidly (faster than you can see) to reduce power consumption. This is one of the frames I liked.. The combination of colours and shapes reminded me of a tartan fabric my wife used in a sewing project many years ago. - JW
The image was taken using a hand-held Olympus E-3 fitted with a Zuiko 12-60mm lense set to 46mm (92mm full frame equivalent), ISO200, EV-2 bias, Aperture priority mode, f/8.0, 4 sec and a lot of camera movement. PP in GIMP: slight tone curve adjust to make the background closer to black while preserving the lamp trail colours, added white separation lines top and bottom, added black bars top and bottom by expanding the canvas size and adding a black filled layer below the image, added signature text, flattened and then scaled to 1024 wide for posting.

The Postcard
This image is from a postcard produced by the Rotograph Company of New York City in 1907. They state on the reverse of the card that it is a real photograph on bromide paper.
There's no sign of an actual baby in the photograph; it's quite likely that they decided that it was quicker and easier (and cheaper!) to use a doll at the photoshoot.
The reverse shows that the postcard was processed by the U.S. Mail in Hoboken N.J. at 8.30 pm on Thursday the 22nd. September 1910.
It was sent to an address in Park Avenue Hoboken, and the recipient there was informed that Joe and Emma had had a baby girl who had arrived at 9 am. He was also told that Emma and the baby were doing fine.

Well, nothing much of note in the United States - Hoboken would have to wait a further 5 years and 3 months for Mr. Francis Albert to enter the world, and 87 years and 8 months for him to leave it.

It's actually called, "Old Country Store," but in my mind it's the Lorman store, as it's the one public building I know of in Lorman, Mississippi. It's a beautiful place, dated 1875 ... now owned by Mr. D, who will serve you a very good (if briny) fried chicken meal and all the southern staples to go with it you can imagine: black-eyed peas, sweet potatoes, corn on the cob, fried okra, pickled cucumber, collard greens, really amazing cornbread, and sweet, cool watermelon. All of it, all you can eat. Plus, he will sing to you!
All the old perimeter fixtures are still in place, as are the two original rolling ladders, and there's lots of random merchandise scattered about. No order to it, really, and I wasn't even sure it was for sale. But I was given assurances to the contrary, so for my souvenir I picked an old embossed pop bottle to add to my collection. :-)
