Ms. Barbara read a book about the dewey decimal system to the children and then explained each section and what type of books they may find in that section. Ms. Barbara then asked them about specific questions relating to the 500's and what were specific books would be found in the 500's or "science section". Ms. Barbara mentioned 3 series, including the magical school bus, magic tree house and Bill Nye DVDs are very good science resources. Ms. Barbara had book displays and activities at different stations focusing on the 500's. At the 510's was a mathematical rainbow, 560's was a dot to dot dinosaur, 550's drew a photo of their favorite season, 590's Origami dog and a fun find the hiding animals page, and 580's Painted a tree. Once they visited each station and completed their activities they received a special bookmark.

So... this was my Saturday all day! =) She is a really cute but huge 5-months old cuddle bug. Not sure of the mix--my family prefers to adopt unwanted dogs... so whatever needs a good home. She is a Shepherd to a large degree and I think perhaps Rottweiler (her legs and chest are strong enough for a horse and she is always hot) but her fur is like a wavy silky hair... nearly like a Golden Retriever... she is not shedding (at least not as of yet). Her personality has an aggressive twist and sometimes her face puts on a Chow Chow type look and her paws are definitely that of a Chow Chow... we'll see.
She is very strong and loves to roughhouse.. and I mean that is rough! So I had to do some major training while the proud parents were celebrating their 1-year wedding anniversary at the beach. =) Parents home all training out the window... we'll see.. lol
I've always been tickled by the idea that, somewhere, somehow, some marketing wizard thought that children's coloring and activity books should accompany the release of a David Lynch film.

CSX local job L387 does some work at Duane Yard in Terre Haute, IN. At left is Decatur & Eastern Illinois (DREI)'s 301 job, running as Z808 on CSX. Both trains are using classic SD40-2 locomotives.

Wheels, an Angus-based charity which aimed to provide activities for disabled people throughout the district, received computers and equipment in November, 1999 thanks to a grant of over £3200 from the Lottery fund. MIT2016: Celebrating a century in Cambridge commemorates the Institute’s 1916 move from Boston’s Back Bay as it honors MIT’s special relationship with the City of Cambridge and looks toward the frontiers of the future. As a part of these celebrations, MIT opened its doors to the public on Saturday, April 23rd, offering more than 380 activities - a host of which were art-related.

I learned about the Montessori method and its focus on self directed activity by children while shooting these images for a friend who is thrilled to be fulfilling a longstanding dream to open a school of her own. We will certainly do a shoot with kids next to add more life and appeal to what will become brochure ware for The Earth School in Bangalore - an element I wish we had right away. That said, it was great fun to explore low angles, common objects, and tabletop photography of the bento box style activity trays for the kids.
