Sheep Dog Handling Activity Day
Guests are instructed on the practical working skills of the dog on the farm using Turkeys as well as Geese. Ducks are then introduced and guests must try and get the dog to herd them around an obstacle course. Altogether a fun day and ideally suited for staff days or part of a multi activity day.

Whenever we were sailing during daylight hours, Uniworld organized various activities to keep the passengers from getting bored. More often than not, I would spend that time on the deck looking at the scenery and taking pictures. Unlike on ocean cruises, there is always something to see from the deck of a river-cruise ship. But for me, it was always a toss-up between staying outside on the deck or participating in the activities, as some of these were very interesting and worthwhile. They ranged from presentations on the next port of call, lectures on European history, economics, politics, etc.; games and quizzes; demonstrations of various types such as cooking, arts and craft (shown in this picture is a glass-blowing demonstration); musical recitals (mostly in the evenings), etc.
Fertilizing is a routine activity conducted to maintain good productivity of the palm-oil tree and conducted twice in a year. Amount of doze given to each tree ("pokok") is 1.5 kg/tree. One block area has 2 rotation/round in each semester for giving the fertilizer.

Bitche - some good news, some bad news.
In the hotel reception, Monsieur le Patron had confirmed with the local golf club about the possibillity of us playing a quick 9 holes, and the availability of a buggy, for 9.30am. Unfortunately, such a start meant that we would have to pass up on the opportunity to visit the nearby Citadel. Such are the vagaries of an activity-driven trip planned by BigPete.
Mind you, there's always another day, and the perfect reason now to return to this region.

This water based competitive team challenge involves constructing a raft from barrels, planks and rope with a little technical training, followed by a speed and manoeuvrability race. This is ideal for large or small groups and once equipped with buoyancy aids, helmets and paddles, teams are given a short time to design their raft on flip charts. Once the technical and safety instructors are happy with the design, the team begin their construction. The rafts must be big enough and strong enough to carry the team through a series of races, it must be able to manoeuvre through a slalom course and cruise at speeds. The real test to any raft is time, how long will it last? Even if the rafts do sink, safety instructors will be close to rescue teams and what remains of the raft. The sheltered waters of our beautiful lakes at A Day in the Country are a great place to spend a few hours raft building.

The event ended with this challenge: teams of 4 have 18 minutes to compete to build the tallest standing structure out of 20 sticks of spaghetti, one yard of tape, one yard of string and one marshmallow.

The Blue Lagoon Activity Pool was multi-leveled with the Shotgun Falls slides on the upper level.
This attraction still exists but some activities have probably changed.
