The University Center mall was packed Wednesday for the annual Maverick Cookout Featuring the Activity Fair Day. Students learned about student organizations, sports clubs, social groups, University departments, volunteer opportunities, and community programs.

just a few simple activities inspired by stars (our family christmas gift this year was a telescope, so we are eager to learn more about the heavens). going clockwise, this is (1) several sheets of a dot-to-dot making a five-pointed star, (2) constellation pin-punching (each clip holds a cork backing, black paper and a card showing a constellation; after T uses the oversized thumbtack to punch out the stars we will hold the flashlight behind the black paper to recreate the constellation on the wall), (3) cards with simple addition problems for T to solve with shiny star stickers, and (4) star post-it notes to stick back-to-back on black cord and hang as garlands. the last one i got from the frugal family fun blog.

Student organizations were invited to set up shop in Alumni Hall for a two-day activities fair to showcase the opportunities on campus as well as grow membership.
Whenever we were sailing during daylight hours, Uniworld organized various activities to keep the passengers from getting bored. More often than not, I would spend that time on the deck looking at the scenery and taking pictures. Unlike on ocean cruises, there is always something to see from the deck of a river-cruise ship. But for me, it was always a toss-up between staying outside on the deck or participating in the activities, as some of these were very interesting and worthwhile. They ranged from presentations on the next port of call, lectures on European history, economics, politics, etc.; games and quizzes; demonstrations of various types such as cooking, arts and craft (shown in this picture is a glass-blowing demonstration); musical recitals (mostly in the evenings), etc.
Fertilizing is a routine activity conducted to maintain good productivity of the palm-oil tree and conducted twice in a year. Amount of doze given to each tree ("pokok") is 1.5 kg/tree. One block area has 2 rotation/round in each semester for giving the fertilizer.
