Vintage Action Man - Soldier
Sold on eBay a few years back on behalf of a friend who had quite a collection of 60's and 70's Action Man figures and accessories.

This was an idea I liked a lot at the time. The Man in the middle of a firestorm, how cool is that? I was a bit busy and I tried to do this in a hurry, that's never good. I constructed a torch for the flames (butane lighter gas, very dangerous!) and arranged the setup outside against some trees. I thought this would be a snap. Well, of course, it wasn't.
The day was windy and the torch was really unpredictable. I had to have the fire close behind the Man because of narrow-ish dof, and that partially caused a disaster when a sudden gush of wind blew the flame to an unexpected direction. In the right column, middle frame, you can actually see the unfortunate moment when I burned the kid's toy. A devastating moment it was, but I was able to replace the damaged items without the kid ever knowing what had happened. (Hooray for Eagle Eyes Action Station!)
I was also disappointed by the fact that a 1/4000 sec shutterspeed isn't fast enough to capture fire the way I had hoped it would. Nothing I can do about that with my present gear.
Shucks! I would like to return to this idea somehow on some windless day with a faster camera.
Wanted to take some 'Atlantic Wall' pictures along the coast near where I live, so I took 'Rommel' and a bunch of other officers for a day out. Like an idiot, I forgot to bring their hats so I couldn't take the photos I wanted to. However, one of the officers was already wearing his, so I managed to at least take some test shots.
Here is the set-up for the AP Hangar photo that I made earlier this week. (as seen here: www.flickr.com/photos/cerebralpizza/24979951456/in/photos...)
An old printer box and some panels from junk PC's make the hangar. A Max Steel MX25 Jet raised up on boxes, and 2 40th Joes complete the set.
Simple, but I found it effective.
a 110 camera built into an Action Man action figure from the U.K. i also find it mildly amusing that he has a video camera on his shoulder but only takes still photos.
not sure if these are his original pants, since i saw another on eBay with a different color.
I've recently been upgrading older comics, and I came across this little gem from way back! Dave and I re-masterd it and I wanted to share it with you guys, Here is Lucas' second outting, Enjoy!
Then he tried to cook another GI.JOE, but that isn't very polite and he didn't fit in the pan anyway.
My reproduction Land Adventurer had a very poor flocked beard. Quite unfortunate, as the figure itself is really well done, one of Hasbro's best reproductions, in my opinion. Anyway, the beard was so bad I found the figure nearly useless. So, I broke out the lacquer thinner...and about 20 minutes later...I had THIS!
All that was used to remove the hair was lacquer thinner with Q-tips and paper towels. Yeah, the painted hair was a casualty as well...but I would rather have the flesh-tone hair than the poor flocking job.
The Gargon was an alien terror sent to plague Action Man... though in the US he was known as a Terron and was part of the Superjoe toyline

I've noticed that I don't have a lot of Sailor photos here, so I put this together:
Three GI Joes depict a US Navy Boarding Team from WWII-Korea era. The team was made up of parts that Hasbro created for GI Joe in the 1960's.
All figures are 40th Anniversary GI Joe sailors. The items that are not 40th anniversary are: M1 Rifle from Action Man 40th Anniversary collection, Three blue Cotswold Helmets (Reproductions of the GI Joe Navy Attack helmets), and a tan Cots pistol belt.
For some reason the elbow joints on two of these figures broke during the photo session. In this photo, the figure on the right has a broken arm...and I've propped it up with the strap of the M1. The figure on the left has also broken an arm, and I've propped it up on his web belt. I've replaced the figures...and tossed these two into the parts bin. Dang.
Willie has got all his kit together is waiting for Commander Rivers to give him his final orders before he starts out on his tour of AMMO HQ's.
This is the only known photograph (taken presumably in April or May 1945) of one Colin J. McKenzie, a paratrooper serving the Allied forces in the European front during the last months of WW2.
A war hero with honors, he remained in France after the war, married French sculptress Marie Thierry and purchased a little wineyard in Uzès, southern France in the 1950's.
Little, if nothing is known of the family after this, but apparently they lived a modest and a happy life together.
After a disastrous year to the winecrops in 1956 the couple sold some of Marie's sculptures to a local art dealer in order to support their family. Among the sculptures was a bust of McKenzie. This sculpture ended up in the U.S. and gained some reputation as the "Bust of the Unknown Soldier". Because of this symbolic value It was used as a reference model for a toy soldier figure headsculpt in early 1960's.
For many the toy is known as the G.I. Joe Action Figure, but to us Europeans it is better known as the legendary ACTION MAN by Palitoy.
Now, a face for all soldier figures, Colin J. MacKenzie had returned for duty.
The jeep is not an official Action Man / GI.Joe. But it's a cool vintage vehicle from the same period. I think it's a Cherilea.
I photographed a few of my 40th anniversary figures last week. After finally getting a chance to review the photos I was quite disappointed...boy do I need practice!
Anyway, here is a 40th anniversary GI Joe MP, completely assembled from the two 40th sets. (The helmet required a 2nd set.)
