Found tucked away in a 1949 reprint of a London Transport Executive Rule Book (1933).

Does anybody here actually remember using this?

There were two accounting books as decorations, entries from these books date back to 1930s.

Pentelic marble

Greek, Late Classical period, 377/6-376/5 BCE

From Athens (see on Pleiades), Acropolis, found west of the Erechtheion in 1858.

The relief represents a bearded man seated on a rock, perhaps Erechtheus. The accounts can be dated by the mention of the Eponymous Archon of 377/6 BCE, Kalleas. (Because the ancient Athenian year did not coincide with the modern Gregorian calendar, the archonship of Kalleas began in 377 and concluded in 376, hence the date format.)

Since I have bombarded this account with a lot of Stater and Statersons content, I figured it would be good to change things up, so I figured now would be a good some for some NorCal content from last summer.

On my drive back from the PNW, I stumbled upon this former Grocery Palace Albertsons in Vacaville with many pieces of decor still intact. This store still has lots of original wall paneling, signage, flooring, and the overhang in the frozen food aisle and bakery department still intact.

This store obviously is no longer an Albertsons, but another familiar name... Lucky. For some context, Lucky started in NorCal, and many current Lucky locations were always Lucky in the first place, but when Albertsons acquired American Stores, or as we know here in California, Lucky, in 1999, all Lucky stores were rebannered as Albertsons. In 2006, the NorCal division of Albertsons wasn't doing so hot, which essentially led to the closure/sale of all Albertsons stores North of Paso Robles/Bakersfield in the state of California. When the original NorCal Albertsons division failed, Central Valley based Save Mart purchased many of the old NorCal division stores, and revived the Lucky name in the Bay Area. Today, there obviously is a new Albertsons NorCal division, just this time consisting of the Safeway stores Albertsons now owns instead of its own nameplate, and this time around, their NorCal division is much stronger and successful and likely isn't going anywhere.

Interestingly with this store, while almost all Save Mart Lucky stores are former American Store Lucky's, this one was actually an Albertsons. Until 1999, Albertsons essentially had no presence in the Bay Area, but Albertsons for a much longer period of time had stores in the Sacramento region and Central Valley, with this one being considered part of the Sacramento region, hence why this actually an original Albertsons which was built in 1988.

This store, and another store in Vacaville were the only two Save Mart Lucky stores that opened as an Albertsons before the Albertsons/Lucky merger. This store was never at one point an American Stores owned Lucky. All other Save Mart Lucky's are original Lucky's, or new-builds by Albertsons after the merger. Save Mart themselves have built one new-two new-build Lucky's and developed a new Lucky logo since, but one of these new-builds, in Livermore, has since unfortunately closed.

I also visit the other Vacaville Lucky, the other location however did not have as many cool former Albertsons elements intact, but maybe I will post about it one day.
