This place has that something 🙏
Shot from the 70th floor observatory deck of the 30 Rockefeller Center. You get more of a birdseye view of the other skyscrapers from the building, better than One WTC and the Empire State Building (both, right side with antennas) in my opinion.New Jersey is to the right across the Hudson River.Brooklyn is to the left across the East River.

Previously unpublished archive shot from February 2019.
The blown out background sometimes impossible to avoid in a city grid at higher latitudes and perhaps why this shot was left in the archive so long. Enjoy.
a cold and foggy atmosphere today!
A quick assignment for next Monday's photo club, so I got on the road today.
Reconnecting with the full wind of the world, to taste once again the light air of altitude, where sheets of silence and moments of peace float...
Renouer avec le plein vent du monde , pour goûter à nouveau à l' air léger de l' altitude , où flotte des nappes de silence et des moments de paix ...

DESCRIPTION:
When we take a picture during a sunset , usually we are attracted by the bright colors we see in the west and rarely point the camera in the opposite direction, towards the east. Yet, if the condition are favorable (clear and transparent sky ) the show we would see would be just as beautiful. This photo, taken by Acireale, a city of Sicily located on a hill overlooking the Ionian Sea , wants to be a testimony. The color element that dominates and characterizes it is the pink band extended for about 20 degrees above the horizon, known as “ the belt of Venus”.
The belt of Venus is an atmospheric phenomenon due to backscattering of the red sunlight at sunset by the particles of the atmosphere that are on the opposite side of the sun.
Near the horizon, due to the shadow projected by the Earth, the belt progressively decreases in brightness and color until it disappears completely.
The phenomenon lasts a few minutes and is visible even at down, just before sunrise.

I love the harsh winter sunlight kissing peoples faces as they emerged from beneath the 'Hielanman's Umbrella' on Argyle Street in the city. Enjoy!

For me, a landscape does not exist in its own right, since its appearance changes at every moment; but the surrounding atmosphere brings it to life - the light and the air which vary continually. For me, it is only the surrounding atmosphere which gives subjects their true value.

A happy life must be to a great extent a quiet life, for it is only in an atmosphere of quiet that true joy dare live.
