We ventured along solitary secondary roads and stumbled upon this rather hidden lake flanked by mountains shrouded in mist and I was sure we had to have entered Asgard, the world of the Norse deitities and this ought to be beautiful Freya's bathtub :))
Els cingles que enmurallen pel sud el Collsacabra donen una imatge imponent als vessants que cauen cap al Ter, vistos des del Santuari d'El Far. Al extrem esquerra destaca l'Agullola, que també es pot veure des de Rupit.

A continuous cliff, like a giant's defense wall, mightier than the Chinese one and more real that the one surrounding Asgard.
But this one is only the southern side cliffs of the Collsacabra, a quite sparsely populated area of Catalonia. In fact the name means more or less "goat's pass".

In the snow-covered mountains of Norse mythology lived Skaði (Skade) the Norse goddess of winter, skiing and hunting also the daughter of Tjatse - a fallen giant..
She was the mistress of the mountains, where the sun dances on the glacier edges, and the wolf's howl echoes through empty valleys. Skadi walks the windswept mountains, a huntress sculpted from ice and legend.
Just like most of us who were born in Northen Scandinavia the longing for snow and mountains is always within us, wherever we live on earth.

In Norse religion, Asgard is one of the Nine Worlds and home to the Æsir tribe of gods. It is surrounded by an incomplete wall attributed to a Hrimthurs riding the stallion Svaðilfari, according to Gylfaginning. Odin and his wife, Frigg, are the rulers of Asgard.
Asgard is home to many named locations; the most well known include Valhalla, where half of all those who die in battle are sent, and Fólkvangr, where the other half go.

Blót (Old Norse) and blōt or geblōt (Old English) are terms for "blood sacrifice" in Norse paganism and Anglo-Saxon paganism respectively. A comparanda can also be reconstructed for wider Germanic paganism.
A blót could be dedicated to any of the Germanic gods, the spirits of the land, and to ancestors. The sacrifice involved aspects of a sacramental meal or feast.
As we made our escape from Jotunheim and trudged our way down the Bifrost, we could see a moonlit glimmer into a star filled realm . Just beyond the icy jaws, enter Asgard. Hey, it was that description or go with big woman in a small cave! Happy Monday! This is a two shot hand blended image that I had been wanting to get for a while now. One shot for the cave and one for the stars.

The Priory is just out of the picture by a few miles, it is linked below. It is just inland from Coldingham Sands and St Abbs.

At the end of the Landmannalaugar Trail lies Thórsmörk, the Forest of Thor, an ethereal valley of flowers, mossy caves, and plunging gorges covered with small flowers and tiny ferns, and glistening with small waterfalls.
Standing in the glacial valley, it is easy to lose sight of the 21st Century, and to imagine yourself in a time when the land was still new, and Thor, the god of thunder, clashed with frost giants to determine the fate of the world on the looming slopes of Goðaland—the land of the Gods.
One of the best known ways to discover and experience Thórsmörk is the five-day, Laugavegur Trek.
however, leads a one-day hike to Thorsmork, which begins in Skógar, winds its way along the Skógá River,
then upward through a pass between two glaciers, past waterfalls and two newly formed craters (Magni and Móði), and then onward to the crest of the Eyjafjallajökull caldera.
The trip through Thor’s Forest and up to the top of Eyjafjallajökull in the Land of the Gods takes roughly ten hours.
You will experience wonders of nature and geologic formations you cannot experience anywhere else in the world.

After a few weeks of absence in my landscape photo posting I am coming back with this one. Just on time for Halloween!
This is not only my favourite Mount Asgard, but also my preferred time of day. I call it “in between” when it is not too dark, yet, but for sure it is not a full daylight anymore. The combination of last or first sparkles of a day combined with the moonlight creates a specific, haunting atmosphere that awakens the spirit of mountains.
But don’t get too frightened! Boo :-)
