As flies go I think this is one of the coolest, ugliest but most fascinating predators. It establishes a perching zone in which to locate potential prey and waits in ambush and then seizes its prey in mid flight. Plus of course it has a moustache like no other fly!

My little eyes spoted this huge rock ( at Long Reef ) close to the shore and I decide to take shot once when wave hit this rock - meaning that wave will cover the sun and create unique effect as you can see....let me know how I went..

As the sun dipped further close to the horizon, the glow in the hazy sky started illuminating in deep orange. The diffused glow cast on every surface was quite muted, as if it was already twilight. This is my favorite time of the day. Right before the sun sinks below the horizon. Another day was ending. Regardless of the fact that there was no clouds whatsoever, it was a good reminder that every sunset was beautiful and that it was worth waiting for another.
At the NE Paxton signals, CN manifest train A408 heads southbound to Champaign Yard with a pair of as they were built Illinois Central SD70s on the head.
As a Georgia Railfan, this train was the highlight of the trip to get native power on home rails (with snow even) as the sneak train ran south in a parade. The crew couldn't understand why a bunch of Georgians were chasing them.
As much grief as this girl gives me with the changing of her look, I love her so much! We've had ups and downs, but I think she'll always be number one in my heart. Happy 1st birthday, Fable!
As nice as all the new fancy bridges are in the revitalized Port Lands of Toronto, I'm going to miss biking across this one that leads to one of my favourite routes along the waterfront.
Once upon a time I used to get dressed in my car when I was going to go out. this is did for some time. I would rush from work to a supermarket car par and find a space as far as possible from any other car ( why do people always park next to the car parked on its own? Once parked up I would put my makeup on etc.
I did this the other week when I went out from work and the result wasn't great. last night I had use of a small room with poor lighting and thus I look like death slightly warmed up in a microwave that isn't working as it should .
So this was my girls night out look and yep I was the only one in a dress once again. My jacket went down well though people kept on stroking it! very odd.
So this is my mutton dressed as lamb look not sure I am dressing my age but I don't give a hoot as I was as happy as happy could be
I had a couple of hours with out
the boys this afternoon and i went off to my local nature reserve to see if i could capture, dragonflies.. no luck . grayling butterfly, yes. and to see if i could spot the green eye jumper. no luck but did spot this one and captured it as it turned and looked at me. Also captured a mating pair of moths " see next photo.
As ice water freezes, thaws, and refreezes, patterns are created. Reflections that are bright in water become muted in thin ice.

As described in my April 29, 2020 Update on my flickr profile page, I'm running a retrospective series here of 2013-14 pics of mine en femme. There are various reasons described there for rolling out this series, and know that this is not just a re-posting of old pics. This is a new more-authentic look at some classic pics of mine.
This pic was taken on November 11, 2014 at home while trying out some new clothes, heels, and accessories. I don't have the full details available anymore for my outfit this 2014 day, but it did include this:
* Bella Marie khaki-taupe ankle booties, from Nordstrom Rack;
* a matching khaki-taupe leather handbag;
* taupe abstract-print skinny leggings;
* a tan-khaki embellished-v-neck curved-hem top;
* a taupe snake-print skinny belt around the waist;
* a taupe gold-embellished neck scarf;
* gold necklaces and bracelets;
* extra-large gold hoop earrings; and
* pink press-on nails.

I just found that glass shelf at Target in the bathroom section. I happened to be walking by an end cap and immediatly thought of plants. These are all plants that I found or assembled for my greenhouse diorama. I recently found the vase on the shelf at a thrift store.

As some of you know I love wearing and showing off my slips.

sorry i've sort of been away..i've not had much inspiration this past week! i will try to catch up with everybody as soon as i can! :) x
As you know, I have a penchant for insects of just about any kind - except perhaps for Killer Mosquitoes. But not when they invade my house. A few days ago my garden was being redone and the French Doors were open an entire day. Yes! so flies and mosquitoes aplenty sought the warmth away from the 2 C. outside. I was loath to kill them, and except for some zooming and buzzing they were no real nuisance. What's a bite or two anyway between you and me?!
Still, I was reminded of a little hike I took some weeks ago in that wonderful nature reserve to the east of Groningen at Muntendam, Tussen de Venen (= Among the Fens). In the nutrient-poor soils there near a heath patch not far from a small stand of birches I saw this nice Fly Amanita, quite alone on a bed of moss. Amanita muscaria was once apparently used as an insect, especially a fly repellent. Crushed in milk, it was thought to ward off those Buzzers. It is said Fly Amanita is also a powerful analgesic. I almost regretted not having picked my Muntendam Beauty for use after a visit to the dentist this morning. But things seem to be less painful than I feared!
Happy New Year my friends. I know I have been absent for a long while, but I think of each of you often and hope that all is well. Blessings for the coming year.
